  Dark clouds behind sunlit landscape My son wanted to go out for a walk to talk and I hesitated when I saw these clouds.  But the weather appeared to be our north and moving away. The sun came out and lit up the immediate landscape in front of us.  The contrast was too good to pass up.

View down the hood of an old Buick   I was out to eat with a friend when I saw this old car across the parking lot. It was (hopefully) in the state of being restored.  Still showing it's age, it was majestic and I had to capture it.

Misty view across the fields to the hillside I stopped at a pull off hoping to see another sunrise and the mist just clung close to the ground.  As I looked across the valley, I saw the layers of trees in the mist and could not pass up the shot.

Fall colors down by the creek A peaceful day walking by the creek, I saw this at the edge of an area marked "Private, No Trespassing".  Well, I stood at the very edge of that area and took this photo.  It was peaceful, and it was beautiful, but to not allow anyone to see it or walk on it, seemed kind of lonely, too.

  Trees turning colors in the pasture Many trees are starting to turn colors and in the past few days the weather has been dreary.  It's not so difficult to find color.  It's now getting easy to find, even in our neighborhood.  I know it won't last long, so I'll capture it while I can.

a Autumn leaves just hanging down   Just out for a walk and saw these autumn leaves lit by the afternoon sky against the darker trees.  They just seemed to epitomize the coming on of autumn.

  Autumn reflections at the lake While on a brief outing to retrieve my wife's kayak from our local state park mooring, I looked over the lake and told my son "hold on" and this is what we saw.  What a sight to refresh the senses.

Trail leading into the autumn woods Just an autumn trail into the woods.  I small, dirt, rocky, winding  trail that, at the moment, made me think of a magical time when you weren't quite sure where a trail would lead.

Autumn view from a lakeside cabin While out on a hike at our local lake, I found some rental cabins that I had never seen before. The views from those cabins were spectacular.

Wild storm clouds over the old schoolhouse Sometimes, the clouds are the important part of a landscape.  The storm had passed a few moments before I took this photo.  The rains were over and the clouds were moving on with the front.  These clouds reminded me of the swirl that formed when a genie was put back into the bottle - so it was with the storm that afternoon.

Early morning just before dawn On the way in yesterday morning - I noted  that the sky seemed very clear. Without clouds, the sunrises and sunsets do show color, but lack the excitement.  But as I followed my normal route, I noticed that there were some clouds near the horizon. I pulled off the road in a small parking lot and snapped a few photos with my phone. This was the best.

The corner of the field      When you go walking - sometimes it pays to look both ways - this was on of those times. The corner of the field was a calming site. Quote of the day: " Much that passes as idealism is disguised hatred or disguised love of power. "- Bertrand Russell      

More autumn colors in the woods Another hike in the woods - I can't help noticing and trying to capture the beauty of the autumn colors. Quote of the day: " We take our bearings, daily, from others. To be sane is, to a great extent, to be sociable. "- John Updike

  View up the lake in mid-autumn     While out on a longer hike this weekend, the sun shone on the short up the lake and the sky was a gorgeous blue.  The grasses in the foreground and the blue reflecting in the lake just made for a really nice photo. Farm and sunset sky after the storm passed After the storm front passed last night - we all decided to take a walk. On the return, my family heard a common statement from me. "Hold on, I see a picture" - and this is what resulted.  Quote of the day: " Everything you look at can become a fairy tale and you can get a story from everything you touch." - Hans Christian Andersen

Early morning light coming over the misty hills   Dawn tried to break that morning but never quite made it.  The mist and clouds kept us from seeing the early morning sun. But this view was a little different and was still beautiful. Quote of the day: "It’s okay to live a life others don’t understand." - Jenna Woginrich

  Faint mist across the field just before dawn On my way to work, the fog was SO heavy that I never considered a photo until I got to our local game-lands. The fog had dissipated there and the sky, just before dawn, coupled with the receding mist just made for a great shot.  Quote of the day: "Even the sun directs our gaze away from itself and to the life illumined by it." - Eberhard Arnold

Details of sunset clouds   When I took this photo, the clouds were just outstanding. You could not take bad photos of the sunset or the clouds. Well, everyone loves a good sunset, but I also love the details of how the light can play and color the clouds.   Quote of the day: " We can judge others or we can love others, but we can't do both at the same time. - Unknown"
