Standing apart in the misty field During one of our many drives on the country roads of our area, we came around a bend an into a valley. I saw this lone tree standing in the base of the valley, in the mist. In the snow and int the mist, it seemed almost ethereal and spiritual. Standing off by itself.

White horse in a winter pasture Yesterday, I just had to go out for a walk.  It was very windy with a wind-chill of about 0.  I was just going stir-crazy and had to get out.  I managed to get a couple of photos but this is my favorite.  A white horse trying to get a snack amongst the snow.

Ice on the pond before the next snowfall I took this photo out at our local gamelands on a cold day. A snow storm was soon to come and I wanted to get a shot of the pond with some ice on it.  I got my wish but my hand were SO cold. A view of winter, for sure.

Pretty sky just before dawn Another early morning landscape before sunrise.  The frosty field with snow and the trees reaching into the pre-dawn sky just made this photo special. A new start, with the potential for beauty and wonder! Enjoy your Friday!

Lane to the farm in misty snow I took this photo earlier in the winter.  The scene was taken during one of my (many) local jaunts. The mist was rising in the air from the snow and the farm seemed to be so far away in the mist.  I really like this scene.

Sand bar and distant island in the icy waters of the bay Still showing a few photos from our recent weekend away in St. Michaels, Md.  This photo was from our first evening - I found a secluded beach off of a dead end road. I saw this view and could not resist.  The island in the distance makes it for me.

Hooper Straight Lighthouse While on our mini-vacation, we went the Maritime Museum where this lighthouse resides.  It is the middle of winter and there were so few people around.  We were able to tour the lighthouse virtually alone.  It was so nice to see the details and get a photo on a nice (but very cold) day.

Cold sun and wild sky over the bay We were out on the Chesapeake Bay over the weekend and it was a great time.  There will be a few more photos coming, but this sky from the first night (Friday) we were there was almost spooky.  It was cold but the sun seemed to want to set "warmly" - it didn't quite make it but it was still really beautiful.

Geese taking flight on the bay We were ending our tour of the marine museum when we heard the familiar sound of geese - lots of geese. Then they took off. A reminder is home on vacation.

Cold cloudy afternoon on the Chesapeake Bay  My wife and I are on a mini-vacation to St. Michael’s Md. On our first afternoon, we were out driving and my wife pulled off on a dead-end road.We went to the end and this scene greeted us. It was very cold, but very worth it.

Farm lane in the snow When you're out walking the dog, it slows you down, especially with a smaller (or older) dog.  They "meander" and work at their own pace.  I saw this small lane through the neighbors farm on one of those walks.  It was snowing and misty and just so serene.

Pastel skies and snowy hills The snow-laden hills, the pine trees, and the wispy, pastel skies made this seem to be a postcard. Art and nature coming together in a winter wonderland.

Winter sunset through the tall grass   I could not help but see the gorgeous sunset on the way home from work.  We've had some really pretty sunsets over that past few weeks. I wanted to get the sunset but add something more so I decided to take this through the grass on the side of the road.

Cold winter sunset sky I went back in time for this photo. I've been a bit busy to get out (and it's really cold the past few days) so as I was going through some older photos, this one stood out to me. I remember this "trail of light" that came through the clouds just after sunset.  I hope you enjoy it.

Just after sunset on the road This past weekend, my wife and I went antiquing with some friends.  On the way home, the sun tried to break through the heavy clouds.  I tried to find a "nice" place to get a photo, but the highway doesn't always accommodate.  We came over a rise in the highway, and from the passenger seat, I was able to get this shot. It's not my normal "pretty", but I think it's neat.

Just before dawn at the lake So this photo was taken a few weeks ago but I never had the chance to post it.  The reflections in the water of the colors and the trees made for a beautiful scene.  The fact that the cars were buzzing past me on a cold morning made it feel almost as cold as it is this morning...enjoy this day!

Winter sunset through the trees across the fields I took this photo on the way home from work.  The cloudless clear (cold) sky was attractive.  However, without clouds, skies tend to be boring - but the trees and the fields really made the photo and placing the sun behind one of the trees made it easier to see t he sunlight on the snow.  Cold but beautiful.

Winter view across the valley I took this photo earlier in the season and it just struck me as I reviewed my "camera roll" as a very bucolic view. It reminded me of my hometown in northern Pennsylvania.  A little nostalgia never hurts.

Dawn clouds and bare trees I saw the sky on the way to work and had to try to find some place to (safely) pull off the road and still have a good shot.  It was cold.  Not a car passed me by while I took this shot and it was worth it. A beautiful cold, pre-dawn, sky.

Late afternoon going down a snowy lane Riding home from work, in the late afternoon, I drove by a long country lane.  The sun was just setting, off to my right and I could not resist this cold country winter scene. It made me nostalgic for days gone by, when things were simpler.

Winter sunset across the valley On my way after work, I was talking to my wife on the phone. I saw this scene, pulled off the road and told my wife to hang on while I took a photo.  So I put the call on speaker and took this while I talked to her. All she asked was that I text her one of the photos I took. I think it was worth the time.

Sunrise clouds through the snowy trees I was coming in from shoveling and getting the cars ready to go when I looked over the neighbor's yard and saw the clouds through the trees. The scene just needed to be captured.

Winter sunset clouds I took the 2 days ago at sunset.  I was walking outside to get something and looked across the street.  The only camera I had was my phone but the moment was short and I wanted to capture it.  So I jogged across the road and up a bit and happened to hit at the right time.

Snowy winter sunrise at the farm I had been shoveling for a while yesterday and needed to take a break. This view greeted me just down the road from my house. I would say it was a good break and a very pretty view.

Sunset clouds and reaching trees I arrived at our Karate School this week and had just missed the sun setting but the clouds grabbed my attention.  The trees seemed to be reaching up for those clouds.

Victorian folly on a misty hill The guide said that this "building" was a Victorian Folly.  It is meant to be a place to sit and rest while out on a stroll. This tiny building under the trees just seemed to remote and "far away".  I can't wait to see what it looks like later in the spring.

Fiery winter sunset sky Last evening, just after work, I came home, turned around and this sky greeted me across the street.  Despite the cold temperature, I walked across to the neighbor's field and grabbed this while I could - it only lasted a few minutes.

Trees fading into the mist Another photo from our day trip to Winterthur.  This photo was looking across the rolling hills but due to the mist, you couldn't see much of the hills.  The trees, in this scene, just seemed to fade into the mist.

Gateway to a path into the pines This photo looks back into a path, in Winterthur,  into the Pinetum - a collection of different evergreen trees. The shades of green were there but muted in the mist of the day.  If it hadn't been so wet, I would have walked that path just to see where it went. The photo (for one of the few times) actually coincided with the quote of  the day, too.

Quiet lonely place to sit in the mist My wife took me to Winterthur yesterday. Winterthur is a museum and former home of one of the DuPont family. It is a VERY expansive property and well worth the trip.  On this trip it was rainy and misty and had a very lonely, mysterious vibe.  I can't wait to see it in the Spring when the flowers are blooming.  This scene (seen from the tram tour) was just too moody to pass up.

Colorful view away from the sunset. Looking toward the New Year. As we enter what is hopefully a better New Year, I wanted to post one of  my sunset photos but not looking into the sun, but looking at what was to come. The reflected light in the clouds remind us of what was and the hope of what is to come.  Happy New Year!
