Sunset and bare tree On a late afternoon walk this weekend, the sunset sky was blazing.  I hurried around my normal route to try to get to "my tree".  If you've followed me for awhile (on other platforms, sorry), you've seen this tree before.  It is on our neighbor's farm and it stands strong, providing shade in the spring and summer, lovely colors in the fall, and a lone reminder of life in the winter. This shot displays the fire of coming life in the coming spring, to me.

Late day sky over the valley  This photo was taken Friday evening, this past week. To a point, it goes with yesterday's photo.  I took it while "exploring" some back roads.  This was taken from my car as I was driving.  I stopped for a brief moment, and took a few photos but this one was the best. It was a nice ending to the day.

Late afternoon sky across the fields For a number of reasons, yesterday was a difficult day. There are a few transitions going on in my life and a few uncertainties. I got out of work late to get some of those issues handled so I decided to "explore" a little and take a side road or two from my norm.  I knew it was a very cool day the but end-of-day sky was great.  I turned a very sharp corner in the road and saw this scene.  I stopped  the car and jumped out to get this shot.  A good ending to a crazy day.

Sunrise fiery sky behind the trees I took this photo from our local "gamelands".  It's an area reserved and kept wild and managed for wildlife. While not in hunting season - you don't need to worry and wondering around is great. The pre-sunrise clouds were magnificent.

Farm house In the late afternoon sun I've had this photo held for some time. It reminds me of a simpler past.  Don't we all look back at how simple things were. But, if we remembered all the details, it was still hard, it was just different. Remember with fondness, live today fearlessly and hope for tomorrow.

Power line towers in the morning sky Sometimes, you see something and I saw this from afar.  I zoomed in my lens as far as I could to get what I saw.  The red in the clouds on the horizon and the blue sky above the clouds somehow seemed to have meaning with the power line towers. It was a pretty sky behind a very man-made object.

Sunbeams through the afternoon clouds I took this photo as a grab shot while driving (I know, I shouldn't do that) but the clouds were moving fast and there was nowhere to pull off.  So, I snapped a pic with my phone and the chips fell where they did and this is what I saw.

House in the woods by moonlight  I took this photo some years ago and found it while going through old photos.  It was taken at about the same time of year.  The clouds, sky and old home were lit by the moon and I happened to get the shot. Sometimes, when I look at other people's homes, I wonder at the things that have happened there, the experiences, the love, the dreams....

Standing alone against the coming storm This lone tree on top of a hill caught my eye as the storm clouds were rolling through.  It seemed to be standing defiant against the coming storm and so emblematic of how we  have to stand and have faith that we'll get through whatever troubles we see.

Old barn and sunset sky  This old barn just caught my eye at sunset. The clouds tinged red, the trees balanced with this old barn just made for a warm country photo, to me.

Frosty sunrise across the creek This creek flows through the property where I work. Late winter mornings can be glorious (for me) as the sunrises occur just when I'm driving in.  The sun just coming up made this morning special.

Dawn sky over an old farm road As I drove to work, I saw the sky brighten to the east and some colors starting to show.  I stopped at one of our local game lands, hoping no one would be there.  I briefly walked back the old road and the colors and clouds shone gloriously. What a morning!

Winter sunset on the lake 'Twas cold and windy, but a sunset is always worth shooting at the lake.  The rippled reflections, the wispy clouds, and the blue trying to come through in the sky. All make the end of the day bright.

Fisherman’s shack on the bay A few weeks ago, my wife and I took a trip to the Chesapeake Bay. We did some (cold) sight seeing along the bay.  This shack is part of the Maritime Museum and we toured it at the end of the day.  The red roof, sunshine, snow, and clouds just made for a memorable shot.

Late winter snow in the back yard Two days ago, it was in the 50s and yesterday and snowed overnight.  We were welcomed in the morning by the sight of the newly fallen snow.  It didn't last long, but it was very pretty while it lasted.

Cold afternoon sun through the trees at the lake Even after a day out running errands, I saw the sun going down in amongst the clouds and had to run over to the lake to see what I could get.  While the clouds prevented a brilliant sunset then, I got some nice shots of the later after noon sun.  There WAS a nice sunset later but the cold wind coming off the lake was too much to sit and wait for. Oh well...next time.

Crabapple branch in sunset light  In truth, I was testing a lens for my camera and decided to see if I could blur everything except this branch.  I think it came out very nicely.

Last bits of snow and trees reaching to the sky  While out on one of my walks, I passed by this small clearing into the woods.  I noticed the small bits of snow and the stark, white trees.  The trees seemed to be reaching out up from the rest of the scrub and trees - reaching for a warmer day.  The blue sky seemed right to make into a black and white image.

Soft winter sky over the lake A soft, misty, winter morning by the lake. The pastel colors reminded me of a dream. Despite the chill, the warming of the sky reminded me that spring is on the way.

Just before dawn across the frosty fields On my way to work, I saw a thin line of color along the eastern horizon.  I wanted to make it more scenic so I stopped the car near a farm and found this little spot.  Frosty and not too cold, but warmer days are coming.

Branches reaching into the sky I saw this tree this past weekend.  I actually see this tree each and every day. However, the dark sky, the barely visible wispy clouds, and the stark branches made it sand out to me.  It seemed that my neighbor's tree was reaching into the sky.

Water reflecting the morning sky On the way to work a couple of weeks ago - I saw this scene.  I had to walk back from my car to a tiny bridge to get the full effect of the sky's reflection of the water. This is one of my favorites for t he winter.

Window view to the bay  I took this photo when on our trip to St. Michaels, Md.  It was taken in one of the museum buildings.  It just struck me as a view I'd love to see every day. Hah - it's a dream but a view like this is my happy place.

Sunset through the pines  I caught this sunset a few weeks ago but with the gray weather lately, I thought I would post it today. Sunsets and sunrises always seem to be paintings from God.  I like to capture them so I can remember just how beautiful things can be.

Pastel dawn sky at the covered bridge  On my way to work, I stopped by the creek to see the dawn sky.  The covered bridge is a local landmark and (I think) morning is the best time for a scenic photo.

The board walk to the beach in the snow A number of years ago - we went to the New Jersey beach in February to visit with some friends who were year round residents.  It was, as one would expect, a cold, blustery time. I could not resist taking walks, especially to the beach.  This photo seemed so serene and represented the few folk who would venture out to the beach on a winter's day.

Sunrise sky over the snowy field Another beautiful winter before sunrise sky  The intense colors of the sky and the hills were enhanced by the field and snow.  I did not edit this at all - the colors were there and gorgeous.

Sunrise colors reflecting in the creek This photo (along with some others you'll see in the coming days) were taken on a gorgeous cold winter morning with a beautiful pre-sunrise sky. This one was taken at the creek at my workplace. There was no editing and no filter no this one.
