Sunset through the trees  This scene was not very far from my home. Out for an "exercise walk" - the time was late afternoon and I happened to be across our road and saw the sun setting through the trees.  The clouds just made the sunset colors pop and the colors made it seem just a little warmer as we reach into spring.

Morning reflections On a misty morning, near our local lake, I was crossing a bridge when I noted the sunshine reflecting in the water just past the trees.  I had just come from that spit of land in the photo and had noticed a very quiet fisherman.  You can see his reflection in the water.  It was a very peaceful morning.

Clouds banked up by the lake shore Along the lake, over last weekend, the clouds just moved, seemingly, in waves.  One moment, the sky would darken and it seemed as if rain was imminent.  The next moment the clouds would break and blue sky would show through with puffy clouds. This photo was taken during one of those transitions between the two.

Colorful morning at the lake During one of my morning walks at the lake, I looked over my shoulder and saw the early morning light making the trees just light up. The added glass-like water made the reflections all the better.

Fallen tree at the lake’s edge Yesterday, I took another hike around the lake.  The wind was blowing making it quite chilly, but the intermittent sunshine made for warm spells.  The sky was full of patches of blue amongst the clouds. This fallen tree along the lake's edge with the living trees made for a nice photo.

Trail into the misty woods   Some time ago, I took a day off and walked the woods and took photos, mostly to decompress.  This view of a wet trail after the rains, into the misty woods was just so peaceful and quiet. My soul was glad.

Sunrise and branches So, the other morning on the way to work, the sunrise was almost too hazy for a good photo.  However, I happened to spy a tree which was just starting to bud and got this photo of the sun rising behind the branches.

Thin line of sunrise through the clouds and trees While driving in, I saw the faint color in the east and thought of my old childhood adage "orange at night, sailor's delight, orange in the morning, sailor's take warning".  All I know is, I got a break and managed to catch this photo of the sunrise - the only sun we would see for the day.

Rainbow from the storm Chasing rainbows - or storms - I got this photo by chance while on the road with some of my family.  My in-laws had insisted that I sit in the front seat, just in case I could get a photo.  This was the catch of the trip. Thanks, Jerry and Judy!

Sun shining through the mist and the trees A few days ago, we had a VERY foggy morning.  This photo was taken in my backyard.  I see these trees every day but in the fog and mist, with the sunshine - it looked so different. The sun shining through seemed to bring hope to the world.

Dusk falls over the valley On the way home from visiting my father-in-law, we chased storm clouds to the east. However, to the west, after the storm, the sky cleared and the dusk view across the valley was quite pretty.

Sunset light on the storm clouds down the valley The storm was crazy - the first fall of hail this year - wind - torrential rain - lightning - the work.  However, when we went to head home, the storm had moved on and the clouds, while absent from the sunset, were lit up in the opposite direction.  The colors were magnificent.

Wet trail to the misty lake So  yesterday was a day of rest (sort of) - the morning was, anyway.  I hiked about 4 miles near and around our local lake.  The morning started out VERY foggy.  By the time I got up (it WAS a day off), the fog had mostly burned off.  However, there was some residual mist and the trails were VERY wet from the recent rains.  I just loved how this image showed the trail leading down to the misty water.

Old stone bridge on a misty morning I took this photo some time ago at Winterthur Estate in Southeast Pennsylvania.  This old bridge just sits quietly carrying traffic but I thought it portrayed a stately beauty in the mist.

Early morning reflections at the lake A quiet early morning with the mist rising off the water and the sun up with the haze and clouds.  The birds in song announcing the coming of spring.

Dawn about to break over the pond The morning initially seemed very bland.  When I left, I saw no clouds in the sky, and no color.  As I drove in towards work, I saw the faint wisps of clouds near the horizon. As I neared the last bit of "country" where I work, the clouds lit up, announcing the coming dawn and the reflections in the pond were too much to pass up.

Robins playing in the snow After the last snow (hopefully the last one of the season), I went for a walk and saw many robins  just flitting about.  These two didn't even seem to notice I was there.  They just seemed to be playing and prancing - some real joy on a cold day.

Dirt road through a late season snow After going out for a little shopping with my youngest, I noticed the way the snow, whipped by wind the day before, was still clinging to the tree trunks. I took a "jaunt" onto some back roads and got this photo of that back road in the (hopefully) last snow of this season.

Setting sun over the snowy field Yesterday afternoon,  the clouds parted after delivering a goodly amount of snow and despite a few snow-laden clouds, we got a nice sunset.  However, the winds were blowing and it was VERY cold. It was worth venturing out to get this one.

Sunrise sky and light snow This shot was from some time ago, but based on today's forecast (snow) - I thought it would be a much prettier way to view the coming snow. The sky was glorious that morning!  Enjoy your day!

Frosty sunrise on the lake I was late getting to work - I had to scrape windshields and warm up cars.  But as I was done scraping, I noticed the frost hanging on the leaves and the sun shining just over the horizon.  I took the chance to run / drive down to the lake and see what the scene looked like. The fog was on the water, the sun had just risen and the mist had frozen onto the underbrush.  I thought it made for a really nice morning photo.

Frost and mist across the valley   Looking across the valley, I couldn't tell whether it had snowed or whether it was frost.  When I took this, it was frost, and the air that morning caused mist to rise as well.  It just seemed to be a very peaceful scene - something we can all use.

Sun rising on the water The sun had just broken over the far hill.  The early morning rays glinted on the rippling waters of the lake. I could just barely see the weeds struggling to rise out of the water.  I hope everyone can see the beauty of the sunrise.

Sunset sky over the barnyard On one of my recent evening walks, on our way home, I saw the sunset.  However, the sky after the sunset can be even more beautiful than the sunset itself.  This was the view of our neighbor's barn just after sunset.  You can't see it very well, but the horses are just inside taking their supper. It is wonderful living in the country with such beauty all around us.

Last sliver of the sun at sunset I ran outside to catch the sunset - from our window, the sun seemed higher in the sky. But by the time I got to a good spot, only the last little slice of sun was visible.  I centered it, zoomed in, and this was the result.  A fitting ending for a warm (soon to be) spring day.

Grazing in the pasture after sunset   This is our neighbor's horse.  At first, I was so enamored with the sunset that I didn't see the horse.  As we walked our dog, I noticed the horse, grazing and ignoring me.  I kept walking until I could get the right position.  I think it really came out well.

Old memories of an old barn This photo came out of some scans I did of my late father slides.  I remember this barn from my childhood in northern Pennsylvania.  We drove past it all the time and when I saw it in the scanned images, it was a definite keeper.  Good memories of an earlier time.

Cloudy sunrise at the lake The weather man had said it would be clouds, but when I was leaving my home, I saw the sun trying to peak through. I hurried to the lake to see if I could snap a few photos before the clouds took over.  This is the best shot from yesterday.

Sunset sky over the hills This sunset sky was a Pennsylvania version of a "big sky" moment.  The fields, hills, and sky just brought to mind wide open spaces.

Sunrise through the woods This appears to be a week of transitions.  There are some at work and, of course, the seasons are transitioning from Winter to Spring. The sunrise was short lived due to the clouds, but I caught a glimpse of it through the woods on my way  to work.

Power of the sunset This photo was  taken on a weekend walk. I happened to see the clouds and the sun just before setting.  I also saw our local power station and wondered how they would look together.  I walked a little faster and managed to get this photo.
