Spring sunset sky Spring sunset sky   Another beautiful sunset sky is hard to pass up.  This sky almost looked like smoke had wafted up from the ground but there was no smoke - just fire in the sky.

Reaching up through the sunrise     The other morning, while walking into my building, I looked uphill and saw this tree reaching up into the sunrise sky. The new foliage all seem to help keep this idea of "reaching" into my thoughts. A new dawn, a stormy sky - hope for a brighter day.

Break in the morning rain clouds Yesterday morning - it looked very dreary and gray. On my way to work, I saw a streak of color to the east. As I got to a good place to pull off, the clouds looked like they were tearing apart, showing just a tiny slice of morning sun. I just thought this looked very cool.

Afternoon sunshine touching the edge of the field   The end of the day can be so peaceful.  I decided to just walk past the gate to look at the open field. It was not quite sunset but the late afternoon sun was touching the trees as it was going down. The green of spring, the sounds of the birds and the sun-kissed trees made for a peaceful end of day.

Early morning sun over a misty pond   I knew I'd miss the sunrise. Mid-Spring to Summer, I rarely see the sunrise - but the sunsets can be wonderful. Yesterday, I managed to go out a little earlier - it was chilly for April and the mist was rising from the farm pond nearby. I decide to stop when I saw how the mist obscured the water but the sun shone bright and clear. A nice shot, in my book.

Spring sky on the road   Last weekend, we ventured to visit my oldest in the afternoon. I was surprised at how little traffic there was. I spied the open road in front of us with the big clouds and decided to take a shot from the moving car. I got lucky, but I think it came out pretty well.

Early spring, late afternoon sun Taken within the past two weeks, this photo was one where I saw the sun and tried my best to get into a position to catch the sun coming out of the clouds. The trees have greened up some since then, so this would have looked different with more foliage than this. It was warm (for April) and the sky was just glorious.

Morning road into a misty valley Yesterday morning, I didn't get moving until after the sun was up. The TV showed great sunrise views but I was too late. This scene, however, caught my eye. The mist in the valley, the dirt road, the country vibe, all combined to make this a really nice photo.

Morning sunshine lights up the trees   Yesterday morning, as I was leaving for work, I noticed that I was too late for sunrise. However, with the complete clear skies, the sunrise was not going to a spectacular one.  I was right, but as I was getting to the car, I turned around and saw the sunlight streaming through the trees in my own front yard. Another gift of vivid color and spring warmth. A good start to  the day.

Rippled sunset clouds Taken a few weeks ago - these clouds just piqued my interest with the ripples of red and burnished gold against the gray clouds - and the trees reaching up from the distant hills added interest. The trees almost seem to be saying "Don't go, Sunset, Don't Go!"

Moon through the trees and pastel sky   On a recent Sunday morning - I saw this scene on the way to church.  The leaves on the trees were coming out, the sky was colored from the morning sunlight just before dawn, and the air was cool. The scene was just too pretty to pass up.

Big sky and sunset We drove over to my son's place and I saw the sun starting to set. I decided to use the wide angle lens (on my iPhone) and took a short walk to get clear of power lines (the bane of my photographic existence). I like the wide shot because you can still see the blue sky above and the sun setting and it's colors below.

Early spring woods on a foggy morning I got up yesterday morning and noted how foggy it looked.  Then I looked out the back into the woods and saw this scene. The early green of spring and the fog made it seem so peaceful and it was - almost no sounds could be heard. The morning was a good one after a stressful week.

My favorite flowers, lilacs, in bloom a little early     Yesterday, we went out for some shopping and an early dinner. On our way home, we decided to pick up a few things and ran past my son's home. We noted that the lilacs (that WE planted) were in bloom. We did snip a few to take with us (of course) - but these are, by far, my favorite flowers. The color and the aroma, though short lived, always make me smile.

Streaks of clouds and jet trails at sunrise Yesterday morning - the sky was alomsot booming with streaks of clouds. There were jet-trails, streaky clouds (which COULD have been jet-trails) and just streaks of color. I just got there in time to catch the sun rising through the trees. It was magnificent.

Sunset sky and trees   I see the skies from class, but this sky made me take a short break to try to capture it.  The odd gray clouds and the bright orange color, just after the sun had set, made it unique and interesting (to me, anyway). A nice ending to the day.

Valley road just after sunrise   This was a soft morning - no blazing oranges or reds, just soft blues and yellows. I pulled off onto a side road to get this photo near our local farm. The scene seems so serene and peaceful in our hurried world.

Fine line of color at sunset Another night driving just after sunset provided this photo for me. We had to do two laps around the block but we found a good location and I grabbed the shot. I love the rippled clouds and the hot line of orange and red right at the horizon. A great ending to the day.

Sun rising over the fallow field Some mornings just warm your heart. Here in the Northeast US - it isn't quite warm in the mornings (yet) - we still are getting frosts - but this sunrise did warm my heart. The sky was so vivid and the clouds playing with the sun near the horizon, just made me stop and appreciate the day.

Trees reaching into the sunrise   The sun had risen and the clouds seemed to rise up from the sun almost like something was smoking. The trees seemed to be reaching  up in some cosmic dance to celebrate the rising sun. Maybe we should all celebrate each new day with a dance such as this. A great start to a spring day.

The rising sun reminds us that He is risen, indeed! Happy Easter! I took this earlier in the week and wanted to post it the next day, but I kept getting other shots.  This one, I think, serves a good reminder of Easter - the mist in the valley and clouds, the rising sun.  All these things remind us that no matter the issue - Christ has risen!

Fiery line of color well after sunset So, last night - we went out to run some errands. While getting ready, I heard my wife say how pretty the sky was. I looked out my window and the sky was dark. I shrugged my shoulders and continued. Then we went outside and as we were driving, I managed to capture the beauty they (and now, I) saw.

Sunset clouds beyond the tree line While out driving after work, you can see many sights - if you look.  It amazes me how many times I see wonderful scenes. Sometimes I can stop and sometimes I can't but other don't even seem to see. I guess it's a blessing to see the beauty of the moment - it is a blessing to me.

Sun rising over the misty valley   When I left the house for work, the sky was gray and just blah.  However, when I got down the road, I saw a break in the clouds. It was just the right spring temperature to have mist in the low lying areas.  A little further on, the sun tried to break through and this view presented itself to me, so I had to capture it. A great start to the day!

Spring sunset at the farm I went out for a drive with my oldest last evening and he knows how much I love to take photos.  He went on some back roads so I could get some shots of the sunset sky. This show was near the end of one of the roads and the farm was there - I took it on the fly and was very lucky to capture this country scene - and very luck for my understanding family.

Wispy clouds at dawn In the morning - sometimes, it's the small things that catch our eyes. It's not always the brilliant red sunrises - it can be the small wispy clouds tinged with sunrise colors just floating by,that make my day. This was one of those days.

Country road into the sunset sky I saw this road while at a stop sign, waiting for a turning car. I managed to just grab a couple of shots as we drove on. The curve of the road made this shot. I wanted to just go down this road and keep going - almost like a dream.

Victorian folly in the early spring I took many photos during our trip to Winterthur. This is one of my favorite spots.  During a previous trip, my wife and I climbed up to this folly. The view was worth the climb and it brings back good memories.

Flowering trees in spring at Winterthur Yesterday, my wife and myself took a drive, along with my mother-in-law, to Winterthur Museum and Gardens. This was my mother-in-laws belated birthday present. The daffodils were in bloom and some flower trees. We can't wait to go back soon to see more flowers and new life.
