  Photo of the Day 241/365 Early Morning Sky over the Field   I took this photo yesterday morning on the way to work. I thought I had missed all of the early morning oranges until I crested the hill and saw the thin band of orange near the horizon. I stopped and grabbed a few shots. This was the best that showed the thin band of orange light at the base of the clouds. After sneaking the shot with my iPhone, I used an app call Moku Hanga to make the photo into digital art. After trying many of the effects, I settled on this one as it looks "almost" like a scene from the 1950's. I hope you all like it, too.          

  Photo of the Day 240/365 Last Rays of Sun at the Lake   I took this photo last weekend at the lake. The air was still, the winds were calm, and we had just mounted the kayak to it's mooring. I looked out and saw the evening approaching on the lake. The sun was setting and it's last rays were just hitting the other side of the lake. The stillness allowed the reflections to be magnificent. A really nice end to the day.

  Photo of the Day 239/365 Sunset Almost Gone   I took this photo last evening. I was sitting in my office when I noticed the time and then looked at my Apple Watch which told me sunset was a few minutes away.  I grabbed my camera and went for a very brisk walk. I didn't get the foreground I was looking for, because I was too late. I did manage a couple of shots before the sun went down. 

   Photo of the Day 238/365 Pretty Morning Sky over the Hills and Valley   I took this shot the other morning on the way to work. It was an early morning and the sky was lit in many of the same colors I normally see later on in the year. In this shot, the blue of the sky and blue of the hills in the background really contrasted with the oranges in the sky.  It made, for me, a nice morning photo.

  Photo of the Day 237/365 Across the Farm Field on a Cloudy Day   I took this photo some time ago. We were out in a small country town somewhere in central Pennsylvania. When I looked out the window while we ate, I noticed the bright red farm tractor against the white building, across the field. The field was just beginning to sprout crops and the white building contrasted with the gloomy sky and the darker colors of the field. A true "country" photo.

  Photo of the Day 236/365 Sun Peeking Out Just Before Setting   I love the sun's rays just before the clouds hide it. By the time the clouds were ready to uncover the sun, the sun had set. The gold in the sky and the lit edges of the clouds make this, for me, a very dramatic sunset and a favorite this season. Hope you all have glorious sunsets in your areas.

  Photo of the Day 235/365 Sunset Between the Pines   Out on another walk, I spied the sun setting between our neighbor's pine trees. I tried to center the setting sun between them for balance, but nature doesn't always work the way you want. It was a wonderful sunset anyway. The summer is moving by quickly and soon the fall colors will capture my attention, so I'll enjoy these summer sunsets while I can.

  Photo of the Day 234/365 Beautiful Summer Day at the Farm I was out for a very long walk with my youngest. The day was warm and clear but after a mile or so, the warm became hot and we stopped under a tree in front of a local farm. This scene, was just too nice not to take a photo. The serenity of the summer day, the blue sky and puffy clouds made the heat worthwhile. I remember them thinking I was nuts until I explained what I was trying to get. It took, perhaps, 20 tries to get this right, but I got this one.

  Photo of the Day 233/365 Morning Sun Trying ot Break Though the Clouds I took this photo last week on the way to work. The sun trying to break through the flouds made for a gorgeous sky. But with the mist in the valley almost melding with the clouds and the rays of the sun coming donw. - it was even better. A great way to start the day. 

  Photo of the Day 232/365 At the Very End of  the Sunset This photo was taken yesterday at the end of the day.  The sky was clear right up until sunset. I really didn't have high hopes for any photo. Nature always surprises me with its beauty. The light clouds were there, the sun rays casting shadows in sky and the sun just dipping behind a lone tree.  The glow of the sun on the clouds - it was beautiful. 

  Photo of the Day 231/365 Sunset over the Tall Grass and Field This photo, taken last evening, was a nice combination of trying to capture a sunset and living near farms. I took a quick 10 minute walk, at sunset, to see how the sky looked. We can't directly see the sun setting but we can see the clouds affected by the sunset - and I thought it was worth the try. The grasses reflecting the sunlight and the sunset itself formed a very nice combination for the shot.

  Photo of the Day 229/365 Afternoon Sunshine Through the Trees This photo, taken on a long walk with my youngest child, was a happenstance shot. We were walking when I noticed the sunshine flowing in the grasses as we walked. I happened to look up as we went by and saw the sun had come out from behind a cloud and the light was coming through the trees. I liked the sunshine both from behind the tree and in the grasses at their base.

  Photo of the Day 228/365 Red Glow and Orange Sunset Sky   I was this sunset a few nights ago. We've had some spectacular sunsets this year. Perhaps we always have wonderful sunsets - I just know I like photographing them. This one, in particular was different for me, in that there is usually a red glow OR an orange sky - this one had both, so for me it was special and worth the work to capture it. 

  Photo of the Day 227/365 Clear Summer Day on a Country Road This photo was taken close to our previous home. The walks there were peaceful and beautiful. The farms were bucolic and very "country". On one side was fields of crops and on the other was a pasture for cows. On this particular day, the sky was blue and the clouds just seemed to float by - almost too good to be true - so peaceful.

  Photo of the Day 224/365  Sunset Sky over the Hay Field We've had such beautiful sunsets this year. The hay field down the road is a great place for photos. It has a pull off so I can get there and park and an open sky view. It is especially beautiful with a pretty sky - quite the country view. 

  Photo of the Day 225/365 Fishermen Out on a Hazy Summer Morn   This photo was taken yesterday morning while on a walk at the lake while my wife got her hair done. I had just started when I saw the fisherman in the foreground and rushed to get the right angle to miss the "beach" while still seeing some of the shore. It was only when I framed it in the camera that I saw the second fisherman in the background. Good go get out before it got too hot.    

  Photo of the Day 224/365 Afternoon Sky over the Farm Field   Another drive-by shot where I happened to see a very pretty sky away from the "sunny side" of the sky. We didn't have particularly beautiful sunset - but as I looked the other way, this vista presented itself. I thought the sky, field, and hills made it a nice photo.

  Photo of the Day 223/365  Clouds Trying to Hide the Sunset   This photo was taken on a "photo drive" that my wife and I do from time to time. During the drive, we came out from behind some trees when this vista opened up and I saw the sun trying to set. I was frustrated because I knew it "could" be a nice sunset except for the clouds. Well, the clouds made this photo special - the sun almost coming out tinged the lower clouds red and left the rest with wisps varying colors above.   

  Photo of the Day 222/365 Afternoon Clouds over the Trees and Field   I took this photo while out on a walk in my local area. The sun was low in the sky but hidden by clouds so I looked to the other side of the road and saw the colors reflecting on the clouds in a beautiful blue sky. I could not pass up these colors.

  Photo of the Day 221/365  Dusk Over the Farm We were out fro a drive at sunset. She kept saying, "just let me know when to pull off." I was watching the side mirror to ensure no one was behind us. I tried to pick spots where I could get a number of shots so we wouldn't "waste" time. This was one of those shots. If you look closely, you can still see the light of the day on the barns and the glorious color in the sky.

  Photo of the Day 220/365 Driving Down a Country Road I took this photo while on a drive with my wife. We were in the center of the state going from one place to another when i happened to see the red barn and mountains in the distance, through the trees. The sky was hazy blue and the air was warm - a fine summer day. A fine day for a drive down a winding road.

   Photo of the Day 217/365 Sunset Behind the Shed I snapped this scene while out on a walk a short time ago. The sun setting within the sparse clouds didn't have much interest for me.  But when I added the farm shed in the foreground, the scene became much more interesting (to me, anyway). I never like the power lines, but sometimes, you just have to live with them.

  Photo of the Day 218/365 Beautiful Day at the Lake in Black and White   Just a beautiful day at the lake!  The blue sky, and the puffy white clouds skating by. and the warm temperatures made for a fantastic day for a hike. I chose black and white because I could make the sky dark to enhance the drama of the clear blue sky and clouds.

  Photo of the Day 217/365  Golden Summer Sunset I managed to capture another warm golden summer sunset. The clouds glowed with the light from the setting sun and the sun sinking into the clouds just made for a really wonderful sunset.

  Photo of the Day 216/365 Bits of Color in the Late Afternoon Sky When coming home from church last evening we had to stop at our local gas station. When we were pulling in, I saw the clouds in the sky begin to light up with the remnants of sunset color. I did my best to capture the little bits of color that I saw.

  Photo of the Day 213/365 Late Day Sunshine over the Fields   Out on a drive in late afternoon - we drove by this valley. The sun was just getting low and bathing the area in a golden glow. I caught this as we were driving by. The sun on the crops just made it seem so reminiscent of my carefree youth on the farm. It just seemed to portray the "country" of my early teen year and I just had to share it.

  Photo of the Day 214/365 Slice of Sunset Light in the Farm Field   This photo came from a road trip we took last weekend. We were coming back and I was trying to capture some "different" sunset-related photos. This one shows just a small shaft of light from the setting sun in a farm field. You can see the barn and farm house in the distance. The colors of the clouds opposite the sun also seem to balance out the photo.

  Photo of  the Day 213/365 Storm Clouds on the Horizon Reflecting the Sunset   While out for a drive, the sun had set already and the storms had passed. I noted the clouds on the opposite horizon and asked my wife to pull over a few times.  Most times, the trees or a home or (I hate them) power lines got in the way - but at this one location, over a park, the clouds showed their glory.
