Last Bits of Autumn Across the Fields Photo of the Day 335/366 I took this photo a few weeks ago. The winds had gone through this valley and stripped many of the leaves from the trees. We wondered then (and now) how some leaves hang on and others don't. The one tree in the middle still is hanging on as are some onthe hill behind these trees. It's just odd - but beautiful - nature has her own ways of doing things.

Frosty Autumn Morning on the Farm Photo of the Day 334/366 I took this photo sometime in the past few weekends ago while out on an early morning errand. We were out before the sunrise and, as always, I was hoping for a nice sunrise, but alas, I was on the wrong side of the car. However, this view presented itself to me. It took a bit of editing to bring out the colors because the camera doesn't always see what I see, but this is now, what I saw out of my car window.

Stippled Sunrise Sky Reflecting in the Creek Photo of the Day 333/366 I took this photo yesterday morning. This part of the creek in on the property of the University where I work. This time of year, the sunrise skies can be spectacular, and yesterday was no exception. The sky showed all the colors of rainbow (except for green), and the reflection in water just sealed the photo as wonderful. I can't be more thankful than I am for what I have. Happy Thanksgiving to all who read this.

Fiery Sunrise Photo of the Day 332/366 This photo was created earlier this year from one of my favorite stops on the way to work. I can't stop there now because the owner put stakes into their yard too close to the road to allow one to pull off. I have been remiss to do my normal photo editing and post this photo because it was too like others I'd posted. I like it for the clouds, the sun, the warmth of the morning. 

Misty Golden Sunrise on the Pond Photo of the Day 331/366 This photo was taken a few weeks ago. I hesitated posting this because, in some ways, it has no discernable foreground but I really liked the layers of the image. I liked the sky, the water with the faint mist, the trees - but it's almost duo-tone image of gold and black. I guess the positives outweighed the negatives and here it is for your enjoyment. I do like the image, though.

Late Autumn View of a Covered Bridge Photo of the Day 330/366 This photo was taken last autumn on a road trip to northern Pennsylvania. We were there and decided to do a tour of the area's covered bridges "on our own" with just a map to guide us. This was one of the many bridges that we found while out driving and discovering. The autumn colors just add to the ambience and nostalgia of the covered bridge, to me.

Wild Red Clouds over Campus Photo of the Day 329/366 I took this photo al little earlier this year, I was walking in towards my building from my car. I had already taken some really nice sunrise photos on the way in when I saw these clouds. I stopped and snapped 2 photos and this one came out the best. There aren't too many times in the year when the morning weather presents itself where I can capture it, on campus. I was fortunate!

Sweeping Sunset Clouds Photo of the Day 328/366 I took this photo this week while on my way from work to our karate school. It cost me a few minutes of my time to get off the road and get out to capture it, but I think it was well worth it. The clouds seemed to be sweeping out the day nad colors were so vibrant that I could not pass up the opportunity. So, I was a few minutes late (or later than normal) for class.

Predawn Beautiful Clouds Photo of the Day 327/366 This photo was taken earlier this week on the way to work. Many morning, the clouds are either all gray or non-existent and the skies are clear. When there are clouds, I tend to stop in multiple locations to take advantage of the colors and textures of the sky. This was one of those mornings. I was almost late to work as I took full advantage of many locations to capture the changing sky. This was taken with my iPhone.

Fence Row into the Morning Sky Photo of the Day 326/366 I had just taken a sunrise photo, and as I've posted before, I usually try to look around at the other parts of the scene. This photo presented itself to me and I was captivated by the leading lines of the fence and wonderful colors in the clouds and sky.  Living in a small-town area, with rural zones, does have some nice advantages.

Farm Yard Sunrise Photo of the Day 325/366 This photo was taken at my second stop on the way to the office, yesterday. I was just able to catch the sun as it was rising over the hill. The fence and tree made for a very nice foreground and the rolling field and hills "ground" the photo. The clouds were awesome yesterday and this scene just brought the whole image together for me.

Just Before a Red Dawn Photo of the Day 324/366 This photo was taken yesterday morning on my way to the office. I had seen a photo of the sky on the news but it didn't look like this. The red in the sky was quite intense. I also thought of the old adage, "orange in the morning, sailors take warning" - but that was not to be! The sunset later in the day was just as wonderful as the dawn.

Farm in the Valley in the Afternoon Photo of the Day 323/366 I took this photo over this past weekend. I was driving back from my son's home in the afternoon. I knew this spot from the days when I drove into work on the same route every morning. I didn't often get to photograph this scene in the afternoon, so I pulled over and took the picture. I like the wispy clouds and the clear blue sky against the sunlit hills.

Barn in the Afternoon Light Photo of the Day 322/366 I took this photo yesterday afternoon. I was trying to catch the sunset (which you'll probably see later on) but the lines in the field really caught my eye. They seemed to lead my eye right back to the old barn in the back. The light from the setting sun really lit up the field and the trees around the barn making it stand out even more. 

Thin Line of Sunset Red Photo of the Day 321/366 This photo was from a little earlier this year, but it was very much like the sky I saw last evening and could not get. We were too busy and the timing was just not right. I remembered I had this one and decided to post it. I like small lines of red with clouds above for some reason.  Perhaps I like the clouds "end the day" and the red represents the waning day. I don't really know, but I like it.

Sunrise Clouded Skies and Blue Hills Photo of the Day 320/366 I took this photo yesterday morning on the way to work. The small pines on the left are at a local tree farm where I can safely pull over and take photos. The contrasting blue hills and golden clouds in the sky really caught my eye. I had seen "morning photos" on TV of the sky but they did not justice to getting out there and trying to capture it myself. Happy Friday, everyone!

Sunset over a Grassy Field Photo of the Day 319/366 I took this photo on the way from work last evening. I was just a tad early so I was able to catch the setting sun. I pulled off the road while I was talking to my wife and spoke to her on the phone while I used the same phone to get this phoeo. For a quick grab photo by the side of the road, I think it came out well.

Trail of Sunrise Clouds over the Pond Photo of the Day 318/366 This photo was taken yesterday morning. When I left, it appeared to be very clear. That's great for the day, but not for photography. I usually like some clouds to add interest to my sky. When I rounded a corner on my morning commute, I saw this trail of red-tinged clouds at the horizon. I stopped at one of our local farms and took this photo. It was a little early for the sunrise, but I liked the colors.

Old Shed by the Road Photo of the Day 317/366 This photo was taken on our recent trip to western Pennsylvania. We were out early to get to one of our destinations when we drove down a back road and I spotted this old shed. I suspect it was a bus shelter at one time, but no more. I loved the mist in the valley, the sunlit hills and the fading color in the foliage. It has a nostalgic feel to it and I really like this one.

Autumn Across the Valley Photo of the Day November 11, 2024 This photo was taken 2 years ago on an autumn getaway to northern Pennsylvania.  My wife and I were wondering across the countryside following a map of covered bridges. With the ones that were blocked off for motor vehicles, I would always try to cross the bridges to see what most don't see anymore. This was one of those views. The farm fields on the other side of the bridge opened into this wide valley and the autumn colors were just outstanding!

Late Autumn Pretty Sunset Photo of the Day 315/366 My youngest and I went on a quick trip to the store last evening, and I didn't bring my "camera" but I had my phone. The setting sun was amazing, despite my offspring's warnings about "stopping in the middle of the road" - I did manage to get some good shots. This was shot within a half-mile from my home and taken out of my car window but I think it was very much worth the "risk".

Autumn Red Through the Pines Photo of the Day 314/366 When we took a weekend trip to western Pennsylvania, we visited Kentuck Knob on an early Sunday morning. We arrived before the other tourists and we had some quiet time. I noticed these brilliant red trees and leaves showing in the early light through the dark pine trees. The bottom of the frame was finished by the fence and I thought it made for a nice shot.

Golden Hues on the Creek Photo of the Day 313/366 This photo was taken yesterday morning on my way to work. The sun hadn't come up yet and unfortunately, I could not way for it. So, instead, I took this photo of the creek with the hues of the coming sunrise reflecting in the water. The trees are already devoid of leaves (along the creek, at least) and the sky reflected nicely onto the water.

Autumn Memories of Bar Harbor Photo of the Day 312/366 We have been up to Bar Harbor, Maine, in most seasons, from Spring to Fall. So far, we have opted to skip Winter and I doubt we will try it (we ARE getting older, now). However, it's a tie between early Spring and late Fall which catch my fancy. I love the flowers in the spring and the autumn colors. This photo brings back good memories of our walks on "Shore Path" on an Autumn day, boats in the harbor, light sunshine, autumn colors, and sounds of the gulls and ocean - what more could I want.

Autumn Colors up the Creek Photo of the Day 311/366   I took this photo this past weekend on a serendipitous drive to Children's Lake in Boiling Springs, PA. This creek is actually behind the lake and near an old coke furnace which is nearby . The afternoon sunshine was lighting up the colors and made it so vibrant. I wasn't the only one snapping pics but most were just fishing and enjoying the day.

Autumn Sunrise on the Pond Photo of the Day 310/366 I took this photo yesterday morning on my way to work.  It is getting to the time of year when sunrises are on time for me but sunsets are while I'm still working.  At this time, I capture many more sunrises than sunsets. In this shot, I really like the mist on the pond and the hint of the sun reflecting in the water. It may look warm, but it was a bit chilly when I took this.

Farmstead across an Autumn Valley Photo of the Day 309/366 This photo is also from my way-back archives. It was taken on film and I am trying to save the best images from my film collection (both mine and my fathers). This photo was taken in northern Pennsylvania at least 50 years ago. The old negatives and slides are slowly fading and I have scanned many in, but they need serious editing and this one did, as well.  I thought it came out well and truly represents what my dad and I would have seen.

Autumn Road at its Finest Photo of the Day 308/366 This photo is located less than a mile from my home. This year has been outstanding in weather and autumn colors. There have been many (some say too many) blue sky days and many warmer-than-normal temperatures. I know the cold and gray of winter is coming - and it has its own special beauty, but I really revel in the autumn.

Rocky Coast of Maine Photo of the Day 307/366   This is a photo that came up in my archives that I had to post. It is a photo I took a few years ago while on a "real" photo tour of Acadia National Park. The tour was with John K Putnam (very much recommend) and we visited many spots in early hours so we could catch sunrises and morning scenes. This was such a scene taken from, I believe, Sand Beach. It was a long exposure to catch the moving water and the colorful sky. I would love to be back there....right now.

Sunset Sky Among the Trees Photo of the Day 306/366 I shot this photo last evening at our martial arts school. Class was just about to start when I spied the sky and had to try to capture those beautiful colors. I did make it in time before class started (well, before I started the class) and taking the risk was worth it. The colors of on the pallet of the Almighty were bright and vibrant last night, for sure!
