  Photo of the Day 304/365 Autumn Colors Just Around the Bend I took this photo from the passenger seat while traveling to our destination last weekend. The clouds were taking turns hiding the sunlight so I took nice sunlit shots where I could. I was lucky that the sun just lit up these oranges and reds with the colors in the sky just was we rounded a bend in the road.  

  Photo of the Day 303/365 Autumn Colors Down the Creek I shot this photo on our mini-vacation this past weekend, from a covered bridge.  The odd part about many covered bridges is that many do not have windows. However, most do have either gaps between the side boards or knot-holes.  I took advantage of the iPhone's small camera lens and used these to make photos where I could.  I got very lucky on this one as the sun was shining and the sky was blue. It was that way for only about 20 minutes before it clouded up again.  

  Photo of the Day 302/365 Old Dirt Road on an Autumn Day We took a self-guided tour of Covered Bridges while on our mini-vacation and on the "other side" of one of the bridges, this scene prsented itself. The old dirt road and the old barn with the autumn colors just made this photo for me. The fact that the road wasn't straight, but had a meandering curve to it, surely didn't hurt. It was, in my mind, a real country scene.

    Photo of the Day 301/365 Subtle Sunset Colors on the River We went away this weekend, thanks to my sister-in-law. My wife does many financial forms-type work for the family and has for years.  My sister-in-law gave us a thank you by sending us away to a bed-and-breakfast for the weekend.  On the way to the location, I spotted this view of the river, just after sunset. This view was opposite the sunset but totally worth it.

  Photo of the Day 299/365 Wispy Clouds Just Before Sunrise This photo, shot yesterday morning on the way to work was almost a surprise. When I left my house, I saw nothing but clear skies. Now I like clear weather, but no clouds means nice color, but little of interest in the sky other than color. When I turned a corner, I found these wisps of clouds, so I got out the bigger lens and zoomed in for this pretty photo.

    Photo of the Day 298/365 Beautiful Autumn Sunset Sky This photo was taken about a week ago. I loved the no-so-subtle colors which just seemed to pop out at me. The actual sunset was to the right of the photo but the beauty in the sky was here. The sunsets and sunrises always capture my imagination and make me appreciate the beauty of nature.    

    Photo of the Day 297/365 Autumn View by the Creek This was taken this past weekend while out on a "quick" walk with my youngest. I paused on the way back home when I saw the bright red of the bush in front of the yellow tree.  When I moved a little more, I noticed how the entire scene came together - the creek, the tree trunk, the colors - it all blended to make quite the idyllic autumn scene. 

  Photo of the Day 296/365  Tiny Rays of Sunlight Just Before the Dawn This photo, taken last week, on they way to work. As we get on through the Autumn, the sunrises get later and later and I miss most of the actual sunrises - until we (in the USA) reinstate daylight savings time - then I get to see them again. However, this time the small rays of sunlight were hitting the clouds just right to make the clouds appear to be on fire.

    Photo of the Day 293/365 Autumn Colors on a Country Road I took this photo this week while out on an errand. I had my youngest with me and we were heading to pick up some soil. I decided on a side-trip to a game-land area to try to grab a few photos and this view greeted me as we drove down the dirt road. It is so less traveled that I was able to stop in the middle of the road to get this photo. The colors can be amazing in the Autumn.

    Photo of the Day 294/365 Wild Autumn Sunset Sky This photo taken last evening was an adventure. I saw the sky and my wife, who was driving, was not having a great day and I didn't wan to be a bother - but after a few minutes, I said "yes".  We had to drive about 2-3 miles to get back to a good spot - but it was worth it.  I hope the vet's office didn't mind us using their parking lot to get this photo.  

    Photo of the Day 293/365 Subtle Morning Mist Behind the Trees  This photo was taken yesterday morning on the way to work. The sky was a beautiful golden color but without clouds, I was struggling to find something to make it interesting. I found a pond with mist rising from it, but as it's private, I could not get to it, but I could shoot the mist rising behind the trees. You can just see the rising mist in the sky on the left. I thought the photo very serene.  

    Photo of the Day 292/365 Big Sky Clouds over the Field Before Sunrise I took this shot two days ago and really like the shot. I loved the "big sky" feel of the scene with the foreground grass and the clouds that seem to spring up from the spot that the sun would rise from. The trees in the distance add to the "big sky" feel. However, yesterday's fiery clouds were better for the moment but this had its own moment, too.

   Photo of the Day 291/365 Fiery Clouds in the Morning So my wife texted me after I got to work and said I should look out the window to the east and see the sky.  I replied that I had no eastern view but I'd see what I could do.I went outside and this view greeted me. I'm glad I went quickly as I only had a minute or two and it was gone. Thanks, dear, for a good opportunity.  

Photo of the Day 290/365 After Sunset Down the Valley This photo from a few weeks ago captured a farm valley after the sun had set. The clouds were lit up with the afterglow and the hills shone in bright colors. The farms and fields were bathed in the afternoon glow of light. This view says peaceful farm country to me. If only our lives could be as peaceful and serene as this photo is.  

  Photo of the Day 289/365 Autumn Colors on the Lakeside Trail I took this photo yesterday.  I needed to clear my head from some internal stuff and went for a drive to the local state park and took a long walk. Along the way, in spots, the Autumn colors were starting to pop out. In many sections, the greens of summer were still present so this view was really nice with the bright blue sky. Over the next few weeks, the colors should really be popping - can't wait.

    Photo of the Day 288/365 Sunset Before  the Clouds Took Over This photo, taken last week, was an "on the road" shot. The clouds made for pretty colors, but they were threatening to blot out the sunset completely.  Luckily, I was able to grab some shots before that happened. 

  Photo of the Day 287/365 Early Morning Streaks of Clouds over the Fence This photo, from a couple of weeks ago, was taken on the way to work. The sky was streaked with clouds of orange and gold. The sunrise was beautiful, but as I've been told, always look the other way to see what is given - and THIS view was there. The fence seemed to lead my eye into the sky and it was glorious.  

  Photo of the Day 286/365 Sunset on the Road I shot this photo while on a road trip last weekend. We were driving up the mountain and I was afraid I would not be able to get any sunset shots.  We were needing to get to our destination with some speed so I took what I could from the car. Luckily we did stop further on and I did get some shots (if you follow this blog, you've seen them over the past few days) - but this one was a "from the car" shot.

    Photo of the Day 285/365 Sunset over the Big Valley I took this photo a couple of evenings ago on a road trip. We pulled off on the side of the road at the head of a very wide, very rural, farm valley. The sun was just setting and the sky was just beautiful. If you look closely, you can see a number of farms spanning the valley.  This was show with one of the widest lenses I have and the "big sky" feel is very much in evidence.  

  Photo of the Day 284/365 Bright Sunset over the Farm We had to make a quick trip to my in-laws last evening to try to settle some paperwork issues. On the way, we say the beautiful sunset but we were trying to hurry.  We pulled off at the foot of a wide valley and I was able to get out and use my longest lens to get this shot. The farm was maybe 1 - 1.5 miles away and the sun just lit up the farm and surroundings - what a great opportunity.

    Photo of the Day 283/365 After Sunset over the Field Here is another shot from this past weekend. The sunsets have been glorious this year and I'm doing my best to capture some of them. In this one, the tree in front still have on its summer leaves but the breeze and cold air were quite sure signs that autumn is coming. The clear skies and the low clouds beckoned night to come and all was at peace. Just a nice evening.

    Photo of the Day 282/365 Weekend Sunset This weekend, while at a friends wedding, I took a number of photos in and around the venue. This photo was taken between the service and the receptions. I saw that the sun was setting and had to grab a few photos. There were only a couple of the actual sunset that came out, due to clouds quickly covering up the sun, but this is the best of the actual sunset.

    Photo of the Day 281/365 A Nice Sky to End a Day of Celebration We were leaving a wedding celebration last evening when I looked across the venue and the sky was lit up with sunset colors. It was very chilly so my wife headed off to the car while I grabbed a few photos. This one was one of the nicer ones. This sky was a really nice way to end the evening.  

   Photo of the Day 280/365 Dramatic Morning Clouds Yesterday morning, I saw the sky lit up with colors on the way to work, but there was no hint that the sun would make an appearance. However, when I came around a curve and saw the huge clouds on the horizon and understood why. I decided to capture what I could and this was the result - the sun was definitely providing the color but the clouds, tinged with purple, were in the way, proving for a very dramatic sky.  

    Photo of the Day 279/365  Predawn Sky and a Misty Pond This photo was taken yesterday morning on my way to work. The bright blue of the sky and the pinks in clouds drew my attention. But when I saw the mist coming up from the pond, I had to stop and take some photos. I took a number of pictures, but this one seemed right for today. It was (and is) a peaceful scene despite my having to hurry to get to work on time...

  Photo of the Day 278/365 Down the Fence at Dusk This shot was from two days ago. My youngest and I went for a long walk and we tried to catch the setting sun. However, I was talked into going a new direction on our walk and, even though I knew I would miss the sunset, I went along with it.  And even though the sunset wasn't mine that evening, I did catch a few with nice orange skies and nice scenery. This is one of those photo.    

    Photo of the Day 277/365 Misty Field just before Dawn I took this photo yesterday morning on the way to work. I've shot this field before at sunrise with the mist but I just could not pass it up. The mist seemed to hang in the air, reaching up from the field. The soft colors of the dawn were just creeping into the sky. It was just a pretty sight and made for a pretty photo - and a nice view on the way to work.

    Photo of the Day 276/365 Autumn Colors on the Way I took this photo last weekend while on a walk at our local State Park. This tree was seemingly ahead of the pack in terms of autumn colors. Almost all of the trees were still wearing their summer greenery but this one seemed to want to lead the pack. I do not want to wast any opportunity to capture the colors of autumn so here is my first volley.

    Photo of the Day 275/365 Old Barn at Sunset This photo was taken at a local wedding venue where I have shot a wedding previously. This sunset, in particular, was awesome, but I could not get the bride and groom out for the photo.  So, rather than waste the scene, I shot it as best as I could. I never did use it for the wedding album but I found it while going through older photos and decided that I wanted to give it new life and post it.

    Photo of the Day 273/365 Morning Sun Shining Through the Woods I took this photo a few weeks ago on the way to work. I happened to see the sun shining over the fields, but wandered back into the woods from the clearing. I got a few shots, but this one with the sunlight streaming through the leaves and trees really caught my attention.  It was almost like it was saying "so long, Summer". Summer is over and I am looking forward to the colors, but the chill of winter is also coming.
