      Morning Sun Shining Through the Trees Photo of Day 121/366 I took this photo yesterday morning when I went out to my car. The colors of the red leaves with the sun shining through time along with the surrounding greenery almost took my breath away. The view is in my front yard and while I don't have the quiet country views of our last home, this one is pretty great.  

      Sun Setting behind a Tree Photo of the Day 120/366 We went to the local assisted care facility to get my father-in-law and  his wife to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Afterwards, we took a drive through the area. I was sitting in the backseat as both of them don't maneuver very well and my father-in-law needs the front seat. I was trying to capture the sunset (as always) and I managed this shot beside my wife's head as she was driving and chatting with her Dad. I took maybe 10 shots in the moment and this was the best one.      

    Old Farmhouse in the Sunset Glow Photo of the Day 119/366 This photo was taken at the end of the winter season, just as spring was making it's entrance. The trees had not shown any foliage yet but the temperatures were acceptable for walks. We were walking on one of our back roads when we decided to take a detour down a "dead end" road. This view greeted us there. 

  Late Afternoon Sun across the Valley Photo of the Day 118/366 This photo shows the view of the last rays of sun crossing the valley. Many times, I'm looking at this valley at sunrise. The angle of the sun and the mist that rises gives me wonderful sunrise views but on this day, I happened by at the end of the day and noticed the view. I thought it was very much worth capturing.

        Reflections and Memories of Cape May Photo of the Day 117/366 When we vacationed in Cape May, New Jersey, my favorite activity was to either walk the shopping area, known as "the mall" or to walk the nature trails at Cape May Point. I was never a "beach person" but more of a "coast person". This view was from somewhere on the nature trailes when I happened to catch a reflection of the Cape May lighthouse in a tidal pool. The photo brings back some of the good times we had there.    

        Clouds and Trees just after Sunset Photo of the Day 116/366 Just before the end of class last evening, I happened to see the colorful sky reflecting against the white walls of the building and took a quick look out the window.  I had to run run out and get this shot. I had glanced out the window the majority of the class, but the sky was OK at best. However, once the sun actually set, the colors in the sky went on overtime and were just brilliant. I just had to step out and grab a few shots (4 in total) and this was one of them.    

Sunset Sky through the Edge of the Woods Photo of the Day 115/366 This photo was taken earlier this year but I never had a chance to post it. I was our walking and missed the actual sun setting - well I saw it set, but only through the thickness of deep woods. When I got to the edge of the woods, I saw the amazing colors of the sky and tried to hurry to catch what I could. This was the result. I am not happy with the power lines in the background but it can't be perfect. I still think it's pretty.      

Late Spring Afternoon at the Lake Photo of the Day 114/366 This photo was taken last year at the lake. I was taking my normal, longer than I expected, hike on the lake shore trail. The day was waning and I was moving to get back. The afternoon was leaving and the clouds seemed ominous, so I was rushing to get back to my car. I came across a clearing with this view, so I had to stop. I climbed my way out onto those rocks and tooka few shots - this one was the best.      

  Photo of the Day 113/366 Sunset Sky at the Old House I was over at my son's soon-to-be house, which was our previous home, last evening. The sunset was quite nice, but I didn't have time to get a photo. So, after we got home, I went back into my archives and took a very similar shot that I took a few years ago and decided to use it for today. I miss that place and those sunsets.  

Just Another Great Ending to a Good Day Photo of the Day 112/366 This photo was taken last week and was another one of my happenstance shots. I happened to be out on an errand and happened to see a good view of a sunset and it just so happened that there was so little traffic that I could stop (in the middle of the road) and take a shot. It was a good day and a great ending!  

    Old Church and Stormy Sky Photo of the Day 111/366 This photo was taken a couple of months ago while taking a ride back from a local state park. We were just driving down country roads and I was trying to catch a sunset. We pulled off the road when I saw this old, lonely country church. We didn't catch the sunset, but the stormy afternoon clouds were good enough.    

    Cloud Layers in the Morning Sky Photo of the Day 110/366 I took this photo earlier in the year and somehow missed posting it. I really like the layers of clouds in this photo. The gray on top, the bloe on the bottom and the ripples of cold, red, and yellow in the middle. Those layers along with the green of the pine trees in the foreground make this photo good, to me, anyway.  

Boats on the Lake Just Before Sunrise Photo of the Day 109/366 This photo was taken a few years ago at a local State Park. We lived, at the time, about 3 miles from the lake so it was relatively easy to get there to take early morning (and late day) shots at the lake. I took advantage and on the day I took this, the air was still and the sunrise looked to be a good one. When I got down to the water, I saw this line of boats and decided to try a wider shot to include them. I thought it came out well.      

      Sun Setting Behind a Tree Photo of the Day 108/366 I took this photo a few days ago while out hunting for a sunset. I found this scene and pulled off the road. I had to walk a distance once I was safely off the road, but it was worth it. The sun hadn't set yet, but I was able to move such that I could position the sun behind the tree branches. I should have moved a little to the left to get it between the branches but it was so bright that it was blinding me and I thought this shot was good enough for me.      

      Morning Sky over the Woods Photo of the Day 107/366 I took this photo yesterday morning on the way to work. For a time, we have to take a new route to work as there is road construction so I saw this over a new route. The sun had already risen but it case sunrays all over and the oranges and reds at the horizon line were spectacular. The photo doesn't quite do it but it's good enough.  

    Sunset Sky over the Farm Photo of the Day 106/366 I took this photo over the weekend. I pulled off the road when I saw this barn-complex in silhouette against the setting sun. The sky was great and the scene was great. I was a little worried about the traffic as it was on a relatively busy road. But I think it was worth taking the chance.  

Trees Finally Starting to Show Signs of Spring Photo of the Day 105/366 I went out for a drive during the golden hour yesterday, once again, hoping for a sunset. Well, there was not a cloud in the sky so I had to find other subjects. I noticed this scene of the leaves starting on the trees. Unfortunately, the wind was blowing (so the limbs are a little blurry) but the scene says "Spring" to me.  

Photo of the Day 104/366 Stormy Day and a Farm Road  This photo was taken from my archives, but with the rain we've had the past few days, it could have been taken yesterday. The storm clouds were large and drifting across the skies - bringing soft rain and occasional absolute torrents of rain. This shot was down the road from my home and surely could have been yesterday.    

Feathery Clouds after the Sunset Photo of the Day 103/366 This photo was short earlier in the year. I had to do a little editing to make the sky into what I saw when I took the photo. The colors of the sky and hills were just "dulled down" by the camera trying to get the right exposure. So, after a bit of editing, the photo was much closer to my "vision" of the photo.  

Beautiful Sky just after Sunrise Photo of the Day 102/366 I took this photo a couple of months ago. I love that the sun has risen and was, at the moment, behind the clouds. The sensuous reds and oranges below the cloud line and the brilliant blues above the clouds make for a great color palette. The dark rolling blue hills and bright upper reaches of the clouds make another contrast in brightness.    

    Stormy Sky over the Farm and Fields Photo of the Day 101/366 We went out for a drive last evening to try to catch a sunset. Well, the sunset got quickly overtaken by an incoming storm front. We drove the country roads for some time and I tried to grab a few photos where there was something interesting. I really liked this shot for the colors, the clouds, and the scenery.  

Sun Setting just Behind the Trees Photo of the Day 100/366 I took this photo at our Karate School. I got lucky and caught the right moment when the sun was setting amongst the trees. The sky was brilliant with color and the trees seemed to reach into the sky. Once the spring progresses, I won't get this view due to the leaves on the trees, so I'll enjoy it while I can.        

  Cloud Stripes just before Sunrise Photo of the Day 99/366 This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago. I remember taking a number of photos at a few locations that morning. the clouds and sky kept interacting and slightly varying the colors and brightness . This one reminds me of a "big sky" scene with the trees in the distance and the clouds making the sky stretch almost on forever.  

     Spring Day on a Backroad in Farm Country Photo of the Day 98/366 This photo was taken from my archives. It was taken in Lancaster County in Pennsylvania and this road is next to our friends' home. They are Old-Order Amish and are very very sweet people. While most view them as "simple" - they are, in many ways, just like anyone else. They have their ups and downs, face the same challenges as others, and have many of the same joys we have. While they do not have our 'technology' they understand it (mostly) but choose not to be dependent on it. Layers of Subtle Colors after Sunset Photo of the Day 97/366 It had been a mostly dreary day and I thought it was over, when my wife sent me out to pick up a pizza. When I got in my car, I saw some color on the horizon. I took a short detour so I could try to capture that color and saw so many layers in the clouds. This was the best shot and I like it. And I got the pizza on time, too!  

      Foggy Sunrise through the Trees Photo of the Day 96/366 Yesterday morning was a VERY foggy morning. On top of that, I believed I had to make a detour on the way to work. So, on a new route, in the fog, I happened upon this scene and, as luck would have it, I was able to pull over into a parking lot and grab four or five shots of this scene. The scene was changing very quickly and the sun only shone for about three of my shots. I liked this one the best.         

      Sunset over a Local Church Photo of the Day 95/366 This photo was taken about 3 weeks ago on an walk, while trying to catch some semblance of a sunset. The sun was setting when I was passing a local church. At the time I took this, the parking lot was empty and there was no one there. It almost looked like a warehouse. In any case, I had to edit this photo to bring out some light in the foreground because I believe there should be some "subject" beyond just the sunset. However, the sunset, that evening was a good one.        

Sunset Sky Beyond the Hills Photo of the Day 94/366 I took this photo last weekend. I loved the sunset colors and the view of the blue hills in the far distance. I pulled out my longest lens and tried to capture the details of the clouds and managed to get the hills and the last glimpse of the sun behind a nearer tree. I think one was a successful endeavor!  

      Sunset by the Tree Photo of the Day 93/366 I took this photo two days ago on Easter Sunday. I saw a glow from the front window and asked my company to "wait for a bit" while I ran out to try to catch the sunset. They waited and I ran down the road and managed to capture this image before the sun disappeared. Time never seems to agree with me that I need to plan out when I try for sunsets - the good ones seem to be happenstance and I have to run. I'd like to capture them at different locations - maybe someday.    

    Sunset through the Pine Trees Photo of the Day 92/366 This photo was taken just down the road from my home. I'm usually glancing out our front windows just about the time for sunset to see if there will be a sunset sky. On this night, some times, ago, I noted the bright colors near the horizon but just puffy clouds higher in the sky. I took a chance to go and this was the scene.
