  Photo of the Day 334/365  Cold Day at Cape Cod with Puffy Clouds I shot this photo on our Cape Cod vacation over Thanksgiving. With the mostly empty beach, clouds, and the blue of the sky and ocean, I decided to try it in black and white.  I am very pleased with the outcome. With the wider lens, the sky seems to go on forever and the ocean is so dark and offset from the bright sand. It already brings back good (but cold) memories.

    Photo of the Day 333/365 Moon and Pastel Clouds  over Beach Grass I took this photo over the Thanksgiving holiday on our vacation to Cape Cod. If you saw my post a few days ago, you would have seen an awesome sunset sky over the ocean.  This was the view that greeted me as I turned around. The moon had risen and was peeking out among the softly colored clouds over the beach grass. It was beautiful.  

  Photo of the Day 332/365 Cold Clear Day at Cape Cod National Seashore I took this photo on Saturday as we hiked Marconi Beach. This particular scene caught my eye for more than one reason. The leftover autumn plants in the foreground, the sand throughout the photo, the fence, the sky, and, of course, the ocean. These all form a "beachy" vibe. But what some don't see is the sheer drop beyond the fence in the distance. It was at least 100 feet to the actual "beach". The whole package is what I'll remember from this trip.

    Photo of the Day 331/365 Wild Sunset at Race Beach I took this photo over the weekend on a run to Race Beach in Cape Cod. We were chasing the sunset and had seen it from afar and tried desperately to find Race Beach Lighthouse to get it with the sunset. We ended up missing the lighthouse (too far to walk, but we DID make this awesome sunset over the dunes and water.    

  Photo of the Day 330/365 Streaky Sunset Clouds over the Sea Grass  I took this photo two nights ago as the sun was setting and we were trying to reach the dunes. I did take a number of wild sunset photos but this one showed the clouds and the silhouette of the sea grass. I believe it is very representative of our mini vacation to Cape Cod. I took so many good photos, it is difficult to choose one each day You will likely see more, even after we are home.

    Photo of the Day 329/365 Sunset at Highland Light  This photo, taken last evening was a surprise.  We were trying to get to most of the lighthouses on Cape Cod and this would be the last one for the day.  The clouds were gathering on the horizon and as we were driving, I didn't think we'd make it. I was so wrong.  The clouds were perfect companions to this lighthouse. It has an almost spooky beauty about it.  

    Photo of the Day 328/365 Path to the Knob at Dusk I shot this photo after we had seen the sunset on "The Knob" on Cape Cod.  We had worked hard (for old folk) navigating the trails to "The Knob" and had managed to make it there for sunset.  There were a number folk there to see it. For me, the sky was really clear and without clouds, sunsets are tough to shoot. When I got this shot, my wife rubbed it in about good sunset shots with clear skies - sigh - she was right. This shot was very nice, despite the absence of clouds.

    Photo of the Day 327/365 Cormorant on the Dock at Night I shot this photo last evening. We are on a mini-vacation to Cape Cod and my wife told me to look at the dock. To my surprise, there was a cormorant just hanging out there. She said she had heard it fly over and land. I was glad she told me - I took it with the iPhone in night mode. I did a little editing in Lightroom and I think it came out great. A great first night's memory.

    Photo of the Day 326/365 Tall Grass Just before the Dawn I took this photo yesterday morning. I had seen some color as I pulled out of the driveway and was heading to work. I found a spot that was safe to pull over and walked bit to find different locations to shoot. I saw the grass swinging in the breeze and when it settled - got this shot. I liked it a lot.    

  Photo of the Day 325/365 Sun Setting Through the Trees I took this photo this past weekend while my oldest was working on my wife's car. The weather was chilly a little breezy, and not a cloud in the sky. I noted, as the day wore on, that the sunset was coming on and noted that it was about to disappear. I went to the end of the driveway and got two shots of the sun before it slipped beyond the horizon, saying good night.

    Photo of the Day 324/365 Rowboat, River, and City Skyline I took this photo this past weekend. My youngest asked if I had take any photos in this one town and I hadn't.  So, we decided to run over and walk around a bit to see what was possible. We had to cross a major highway (no crosswalk) but we managed to find a path down to the river.  At the end of that path was a little setup with a fire pit, some chairs, and this rowboat.  I found the whole thing quite an interesting find and decided to take a photo of the boat with the skyline.

    Photo of the Day 323/365  Cold Sunset over the Valley I took this photo last week on the way home from work. I saw the varied colors in the sky - the light blues, the yellows, the oranges, the deep blue hills, and the tiny bits of red. I had to pull over and take a few shots. The leaves are gone in this valley because it always catches the wind so it was cold to stand there and take this, but totally worth it.  

    Photo of the Day 322/365 Autumn Sunrise on the Yellow Breeches I took this photo yesterday morning on the way to work.  The sun was just rising and I was at the right place at the right time.  The sky was lit up with yellow and gold, the reflections in the water ere almost mirror smooth - the air seemed to be golden, somehow. It was a peaceful beautiful FRIDAY sunrise morning. 

      Photo of the Day 321/365 Cold Frosty Autumn Sunrise over the Field This photo was taken earlier this week on my way to work. The clouds near the horizon made the sunrise interesting and the clouds lit up with oranges and golds. The morning gave a foretaste of the coming cold temperatures - the frost on the fields and the bite in the air.  I framed the shot with a tree which had some remaining leaves. I like the curve of the lines in the field which seems to lead you into the sunset.

   Photo of the Day 320/365 Tracks into an Autumn Sunset I took this photo on the way home from work last evening. The sun was just setting and the sky lit up with the sunset fire. The sky was not positioned perfectly, but it was close. The tracks really seemed to curve into the setting sun and the trees with leaves were still lit up with the glow of afternoon light. I really like how this turned out.    

  Photo of the Day 319/365 Cold Autumn Sunset over the Valley I took this photo last evening after I dropped off my co-worker at her home. This is the view from her front porch.  I could not resist the setting sun, the clouds, and the blue hills. It is getting colder and colder as winter approaches and I took this from within my car.  I just backed out of her driveway and took the shot once I was on the road.   

    Photo of the Day 318/365 Curving Road into the Autumn Woods This photo was taken about 2 weeks ago on a weekend walk. The scene is perhaps 1/2 mile from my home down a side road. The tractor and the gentle curve to the road looked so pretty - I had to take it. The scene had all the elements of a traditional "country" scene. The autumn colors contrasted with the clear blue sky. This is one of my local favorites, this year. Unfortunately, the local color is almost all gone - but the seasons keep changing and time marches on.

   Photo of the Day 317/365 Autumn on the Farm This photo was taken on our mini-vacation about 3 weeks ago. This was another scene from "over the bridge" where I walked across the bridge to see what was on the other side. This very neat and tidy farm was visible - it was facing the bridge, although the road that was usable was now on the other side of the farm. The dirt lane in the foreground is only for walking and farm vehicles, now.  

    Photo of the Day 316/365 Autumn Sunshine down the Valley This photo taken a few weeks ago on our mini-vacation was the result of exploring beyond the norm.  Most folks go on a Covered Bridge Tour and only look at the bridges.  In Pennsylvania, most look the same and I look for what's across the bridge, especially those that aren't driven on. This was one of those views.  

Photo of the Day 315/365 Autumn Morning Sunshine This photo was taken down the road from where I live. it is a favorite autumn spot as the fields are on either side and the trees are always colorful in the fall. The morning I took this, the sunshine was coming through the clouds and was lighting up the trees and made their colors blaze into life. There wasn't much traffic that morning as it was after the morning rush so I could stop in the road and grab this shot.

     Photo of the Day 314/365 Streaks of Clouds after Sunset Mid to Late fall is sad sometimes, the trees have shed most of their leaves, especially in wind-exposed areas, and all the is left is bare limbs reaching into the sky. On this evening, a few days ago, I spied the sunset sky and took a good number of shots and caught a beautiful sky with the bare trees. Similar skies will be seen soon, with the winter time.    

    Photo of the Day 313/365 Autumn Colors and Moving Water This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago on our mini-vacation. We saw so many bridges and most of the bridges spanned streams and creeks. This creek, viewed from one of the bridges was just so pretty with the cloak of autumn around its shoulders. The foliage was nearly peak when we were there and it was a really nice time with wonderful colors.

  Photo of the Day 312/365 Autumn Colors and Blue Sky on the Road  I shot this photo a few weeks ago on our mini-vacation. The colors were outstanding, especially when  the sun shown and the sky was blue.  There were times of blue sky and times of overcast skies. In many ways, it didn't matter, we were away and free of (most of our) responsibilities. The autumn colors were peaking as we went up and it ended as we were leaving.

      Photo of the Day 311/365 Autumn Afternoon down the Road I shot this photo a couple of weeks ago while starting out on a walk. This view greeted me at the end of our driveway. The afternoon sunshine almost coming through the autumn colors of our neighbor's tree and the barn just down the road makes it for me.  My neighborhood has more traffic than I'd like, but it is mostly suburban with a little country thrown in.  I like it.

  Photo of the Day 310/365 Autumn at the Lake This photo was taken at our local lake on a beautiful blue sky day where the puffy clouds were on-again and off again. It was cool and windy but it IS autumn and it always portends the coming winter.  However, I always love the colors of the season and take in as much as I can before the bare trees take over the forest and the moods change.  

      Photo of the Day 309/365 Sunset Clouds Reaching into  the Sky This photo was taken a few weeks ago when I just happened to notice the colors in the sky reflecting on a building. I went outside and managed to get a couple of photos. This one, a wider view, showed the bright reds, but also the wispy pinks tendrils of clouds reaching into the darker blue.  

  Photo of the Day 308/365 Last Touches of Autumn Light and Color I took this photo 2 weeks ago on a long walk with my youngest. We reached the bridge just as the sun had set and the light was fading. I was wishing I had reached the spot earlier so I could capture more of the sunlight on these brilliant orange trees. Despite my thoughts, the scene was wonderful with the bright oranges, the leaves in the water, and the blue sky. The scene was still beautiful! This is my favorite time of the year.

    Photo of the Day 307/365  Autumn Colors on Display by the Creek This photo was taken last weekend on our mini-vacation. We were on our way home and happened to find a pull-off - in the rain - and I took some photos by this creek. The colors just seemed to pop in the damp drizzly weather but the camera couldn't quite capture the bright colors. I didn't want to over-edit it but this is close to what I experienced that moment.

  Photo of the Day 306/365  Old Barn on an Autumn Hill While on our mini-vacation, last week, we went over about a dozen covered bridges. On the other side of a foot-traffic-only bridge, I noticed a farm across the fields. This old barn was on the hillside and I could not resist taking a walk, getting out my longer lens and capturing this bucolic, country scene. The fall colors, while muted due to the clouds, were still spectacular.  

  Photo of the Day 305/365 Small Stripes of Clouds Just Before Sunrise I managed to grab a few quick shots of these clouds on the way to work. They disappeared shortly after I took the photos. The colors in the sky were mostly blue, but the small strip of color with the clouds was just too attractive to pass up. Daylight savings time starts soon, so I hope to get more sunrises soon, at least until winter comes.
