Fiery Dawn Sky Against the Hills Photo of the Day 60/366 This photo was taken earlier this week. We had a number of sunrises but most had no clouds. This one only had some, and close to the horizon. So I used my telephoto lens to zoom in to see the cloud structures against the blue hills and the trees. I wanted to have the texture and the beauty of the landscape scene.

Sunrise Over the Little Creek Photo of the Day 58/366 I took this photo yesterday morning on the way in to work. There are only one or two days per year that the sun rises over this little creek. Yesterday was one of those days. I've been watching each morning and hoping that when the day came, it would not be snowy or clouds - or I'd miss it because of my work schedule.  However, this year, I got there and the Gods were smiling on me. I got the shot at just the right time.

Sunset over the Hills and Watery Fields Photo of the Day 58/366 I took this photo this past weekend while out on one of my "sunset walks". I was out with my youngest and I was clear that I'd likely stop often to take photos. I did and this one was on the way back. I happened past an intersection where the snow had been piled up and was recently melted. With the sunset, it was a winner.

Sunset Through the Trees Photo of the Day 57/366 This photo was taken a few weeks ago while out on a sunset drive. We do that sometimes, especially on the weekends when the sun is about 30 minutes from setting.  We'll just go for a drive to see where we can catch a sunset. This was one of those shots. I like how the trees frame the farm buildings in the distance.

Afternoon Sun over the Fields Photo of the Day 56/366 My youngest and I were on an afternoon jaunt of shopping and walking. On our way home, it was getting to end of the day and I suggested a few stops on the way home so I could try to get a photo or two. I decided that this site would be a good one.  We pulled into the local township building and this scene was across the street.  Due to timing (and a little impatience), we couldn't wait for the sunset but I feel that this image did not disappoint.

Another Beautiful Day Dawns Photo of the Day 55/366 This photo was taken some time ago. I remember, that morning: it was mid-winter, the trees were barte, there was no snow, and the "blahs" set in for the season.  Then, as I was mentally grumbling about the day, the sunrise happened to catch my eye. The sun had just risen, the clouds were almost smoky, and the trees themselves seemed to reach up for the sun. I had to capture it and I'm glad I did.

Geese at the Creek Photo of the Day 54/366 I took this photo the other day on the way to work. The location is at the creek at the entrance to our University campus. The geese aren't always in a spot for photographs and usually move away. This time, I was far enough away that they didn't move. I remember their honking that morning, so getting them made the photo more memorable for me.

Red Dawn Breaking over the Hills Photo of the Day 53/366 This shot was taken yesterday morning. I saw the reds of the sunrise as I was driving and decided to try to catch a few shots. The clouds were only near the horizon and I was lucky enough to just see the sun rising before I had to run to get to work. As it gets later, it gets more difficult to catch sunrises as they are getting later.

Winter Dawn Breaking over the Pone Photo of the Day 52/366 I took this photo earlier in the season. This pond is on my way to work. The clouds were just at the right point as the sun was about to crest the horizon. However, the clouds moved east and I did not see the actual sunrise. This shot made up for it. You catch what you can, when you can.

Streaks of Sunrise Clouds Photo of the Day 51/366 I took this photo a few weeks ago. I took a few shots and posted on of a "big sky" view but this one has stayed in my rotation until now. I love the brilliant red color in the clouds against the trees. I also like the streaking of the clouds in the sky. I don't remember the wind that day, but there must have been some wind in the sky to cause that pattern.

Farm in the Glow of Sunrise Photo of the Day 50/366 I took this photo last week on the way to work. The sunrise was stunning of the new snow. As I wrapped up my shots of the sunrise, I turned around to get back in the car, I saw this scene. The glow of the sunrise was illuminating the western clouds and this farm was on the horizon. The colors were spectacular and I had to get this shot.

Sunset over the Winter Valley Photo of the Day 49/366 I took this photo last evening. I was inside all day doing some indoor and computer work and was tired of it. So I decided to go out for a walk in our local park.  It was, as someone I know says "brrrrr".  I got a few photos but on the way home, this sunset vista caught my eye. It only lasted for a few minutes, but I got lucky.

Hazy Sunset over a Snowy Landscape Photo of the Day 48/366 While my wife and I went out last night on a quick shopping trip, she wanted to show me a spot to get nice sunset photos. I'm always up for that so we drove to the spot. It is nearer to us than I would have suspected but the vista is nice. I can't wait for a better sunset sky to shoot from this viewpoint again. Thanks, Dear!!!!

Photo of the Day 47/366 Just Before Dawn over the Creek I took this photo yesterday morning on the way in to work. While there were no clouds in the sky, the snow and water made for a nice composition without the clouds. There hasn't been a lot of snow this year, but it came in two large bursts. This one has stuck around a few days and provided some good photo ops.

Photo of the Day 46/366 Sun Setting over the Backyard I took this photo a couple of days ago after our latest snow storm. The view in the backyard was too pretty to pass up. I happened to see the fading light reflecting on the house, so I trudged down in the snow to see if I could catch the last rays of the sunset, and managed this photo. Not the best view, but I still like it.

Photo of the Day 45/366 Sunset Sky over the Neighbor's Home We had a fast moving, but heavy-hitting snowfall yesterday. My office facility was closed, but we all worked from home. I had to shovel snow from our main driveway over lunch so my wife could get out. After work, I had to shovel the lower part of our driveway so my youngest could get her car out for work today. At sunset, I was stuck shoveling, so I took a break and grabbed a few snaps on my phone. This is one of those snaps. I do like the golden tinge on the clouds with the white of the snow!  Wish I could have seen the actual sunset...next time.

Photo of the Day 44/366 Sunrise Sky on Campus I took this photo last week. I had stopped at a number of locations on the way to work an was pleased with myself in witnessing some glorious skies that morning. I could not resist one last shot on the walk into my building. I looked up across campus and saw the very colorful clouds and could not pass up the chance for one last shot. I'm glad I saw these gifts on a wonderful morning.

Photo of the Day 43/366 Sunset over the Valley I took this shot a bit ago and did some editing to make it pop the way I saw it. The sun was setting over the valley and if you look on the horizon line, you can see a barn and silo from a nearby farm. I liked the sky but lightened it just a bit so you could see the horizon just a bit better. I hope  you all like it.

Photo of the Day 42/366 Roadtrip Sunrise Sky on the Way to Virginia I took this shot from the passenger seat. Five of us were on a Karate Roadtrip to Virginia for a tournament. We had a blast talking and laughing. We noted how odd the sky looked with the sun trying to come through and lighting up the clouds. It was still a beautiful sky somewhere in Virginia and I got to sit and talk with one of my favorite people.

Photo of the Day 41/366 Glorious Sunrise Sky I took this photo yesterday morning. It was a truly glorious sky. I took it with my new camera (Fuji x100f) and am really happy with how the colors rendered on it. The morning sky made the day start wonderfully.

Photo of the Day 40/366 Sunrise Sky at the Farm Yesterday morning, the sky way glorious. As I was driving to work, I noticed the sky getting redder and stopped a few places to capture the different places I passed. This photo was from the last stop. I've shot this spot before, but yesterday, t he clouds lit up the sky, the hills were blue with morning light, and the fence and tree just made this right for me.

Photo of the Day 39/366 Cold Sunset at the Lake While the weather has been great lately, the available time has been minimal. So, I took this photo from my archives. It was taken at about the same time of year as now, and was taken at our local State Park's lake at sunset. The reflections, the lake and the lone canoe brings back great memories for me.  Enjoy!

Photo of the Day 38/366 Streaks of Sunset over the Farm I shot this photo last evening - we were out for a bit of shopping and I noticed the sunset sky and how few clouds there were. While out - my wife tried to find a place for me to nab a few shots and I got frustrated with power lines, trees, and such. After calming down, I did manage to get this photo of a farm with the few clouds at sunset.

Photo of the Day 37/366 Colors and Clouds of a Sunset Sky This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago. I was on my way to our school when I saw this sunset sky. The blues at the high end of the sky falling into the golds, and oranges of the horizon caught my eye. The little, dark red-tinged clouds floating in front of the others also played into the interest of the scene, to me.

Photo of the Day 36/366 Reflections of a Golden Dawn Sky This photo was shot earlier in the year on my way to work. The golden sky was almost enough but with the reflections of the trees and the colors in the sky, I had to try to capture the moment. I parked the car and walked into the property to get nearer to the pond. I hope the owners don't mind - it was worth it.

Photo of the Day 34/366 Late Afternoon by the Creek This photo was taken yesterday afternoon to play with my new camera (Fuji X100F). It was a warm afternoon for February - it was almost 50 degrees (f) and not a cloud in the sky. No clouds usually means an uneventful sunset, so I was determined to get a pretty shot anyway. The sun was sinking lower and lower and some of the trees were still holding onto last years leaves and they were lit up by the waning sunlight. The colors of the sun was reflecting on the water and it all came together for a pretty shot.

Photo of the Day 34/366 The Thin Line Between Day and Night I was very late leaving work last evening and knew I had missed the setting sun, but work had to be done. On the drive home, I saw the clouds and felt discouraged until I came to the top of a hill and saw this. I stopped the car, jumped out (in the dark) and did my best to capture what I saw, one the edge of night.

Photo of the Day 33/366 Sunset and Lonely Trees This photo was taken a few weeks ago before the recent snows. I looked back through some of my photos and had missed this one, somehow. I remember that the sun was just setting and I could not get a clear shot of it. The clouds were great by not the view, so I decided to shoot through the trees and here's the result.

Photo of the Day 32/366 Memories of our Holiday at Cape Cod This photo was taken on our Thanksgiving holiday in Cape Cod. The photo is of Highland Lighthouse. The time we were there was chilly but gorgeous. I had never been to Cape Code, since we always favored the rocky coast of Maine. However, during the "off season" the coast was stunning, the people friendly, and there were no crowds. Many times, there were less than 20 people anywhere we went. We will likely be back there.
