Aurora over the Valley

Photo of the Day 286/366

I took this photo 2 nights ago. One of my students had messaged me during class (he was home sick) and sent pictures of the aurora. I asked him where he was and he said I should go outside. I could not get out right then (but should have), but had to wait until my wife picked me up. I told her about his message so we went on some back roads until I saw this in the sky. This is the best image I could come up with. Someday, I'll see the "northern lights" again.

Saturday Choice: I took this photo earlier this week. If you follow me, you'll have seen a similar image for my photo of the day. It was the same morning, but a somewhat different view of the valley. In the past years I have lived at our home, I haven't seen the fog in the valley quite like this, so I took as many photos as I could in the few moments I had before the fog rose and the image was gone.

Red Tinged Clouds over the Trees Photo of the Day 345/366 I took the photo last week on the way home. It was a wonderful sunset sky and I couldn't pass up taking a number of shots while it was available. These clouds with the red edges from the setting sun were a wonderful sight over these trees just behind the rolling field in the foreground. A nice evening sky for sure.

    Photo of the Day 307/365  Autumn Colors on Display by the Creek This photo was taken last weekend on our mini-vacation. We were on our way home and happened to find a pull-off - in the rain - and I took some photos by this creek. The colors just seemed to pop in the damp drizzly weather but the camera couldn't quite capture the bright colors. I didn't want to over-edit it but this is close to what I experienced that moment.

Tracks into the Sunset Photo of the Day 342/366 This photo was taken last evening on the way home from work. I took a number of photos and could not quite get the sun peeking through  the clouds. This is the closest I got. I love the colors in the sky and the reflections in the railroad tracks. I've taken this scene before, but it always makes me think of life moving on and on, rolling into the sunset of life - as I get older, those thoughts become more frequent.
