Sunset and the Neighbor's Barns Photo of the Day 151/365 This photo was taken earlier this week. I had seen a wonderful sunset and tried to get a number of different views. I found this one as I approached the neighbor's barns from across the street. I truly loved the colors in the sky and the light from the sun streaming beside the barns onto the ground. I feel the combination makes for a nice photo.

Down the River at Day's End Photo of the Day 150/365 This photo was taken much earlier this year on a trip to see my father-in-law's property. We were early for a sibling meetup and drove down to the river to relax and take a few photos. I really liked this view of the quiet view of the river and the colors of spring. 

Beautiful Spring Sunset Photo of the Day 149/365 It has been a rough few days for our family, so I have had to reach into my back catalog for my photo of the day. This one was taken about two months ago while out on a sunset walk in my neighborhood. The clouds in this wider view were just spectacular and the colors were very vivid. With just a touch of editing, it matched my view I saw.

Road Reflections of a Sunset Sky Photo of the Day 148/365 A couple of weeks ago, we had a very rainy day. I always hope for a sunset to try for sunset but the rainy day did not bode well. At the end of the day, I had the dog out for a run in our yard when I looked across the road and saw the sunset sky was there and the reflections on the wet road formed some very interesting lines.

Late Day on the Water in Maine Photo of the Day 147/354 Based on the stress I've had over the past couple of days, I decided to pull one of my favorite photos from the past and post it for my photo of the day. This photo was taken a couple of years ago on our annual Maine vacation. We decided to go on a lakeside hike near sunset. This shot was taken over an inlet after sunset with the clouds reflecting on the calm water. It was an almost perfect evening.

Cloud Stipes in Memorial Day Sunset Photo of the Day 146/365 Yesterday was a very difficult day for us. We found out that my son and his wife lost their child. They were 8 months along, and we don't know what happened but we must move forward. I went out at sunset to clear my head and got this really nice shot. It is taken in loving memory of him.

Sunset View after the Rain Photo of the Day 145/365 This view was taken a couple of weeks ago. I was out for a sunset walk, and was unsure I'd get any photo, but this was the first view I saw of the sky. It had been raining and the clouds were still overhead. It never cleared, but there was a line of sunset colors along the horizon and this compision looked good to me.

Stripes of Color in a Sunset Sky Photo of the Day 144/365 A few days ago, we were blessed with an awesome sky with gorgeous colors. I stopped, after class, at a number of locations to try to capture that sky as the day came to a close. This photo was from one of the last stops for the evening. I had pulled over at my neighbor's barn and jogged over to the field to try to get a photo. I like the outcome of that effort.

Sunset-lit Sky and Field Photo of the Day 143/365 If you read this, you know that I often take sunset walks. In most cases, I take advantage and get as many views and compositions as I can. Sometimes, I include a single tree; sometimes, I include wide, wild skies.  On this particular evening, I noted the clouds and field opposite the sunset and did my best to capture that view.

Sunset Sky over the Town Lights Photo of the Day 142/365 After I left class last evening, I noted the brilliant colors in the sky. I had texted my wife to let her know I was leaving, and she recommended stopping to get a photo of the sky. How could I resist? I stopped at 2 different locations and got a few photos. This one was taken as I was leaving town and could still see some town lights visible below the sky, and I liked the image.

Sunset and Pine Tree Photo of the Day 141/365 I shot this photo slightly more than a week ago. I was out and got a very interesting sunset, so I took a number of compositions and vantage points. This photo was one of them. I liked how the sunset sky lit up behind the pine branches. 

Warm Spring Sunset after a Hot Day Photo of the Day 140/365 After a 95 degree day in May (yesterday) - we went out for a walk near to sunset to see what I could catch. On our return leg, I saw this view with the wispy clouds and colorful sky. I could not resist trying to capture the view, and I think it came out well.

Line of Dark Clouds at Sunset Photo of the Day 139/365 This photo was taken a couple of nights ago. I had stopped trying to get some sunset shots, but it was too late. Instead of getting the actual sunset, I tried different compositions. In this one, I noted the wide line of dark clouds and the colorful sky just to the south of the sunset.

Sunset Sky and Old Farm Photo of the Day 138/365 We were on our way home last evening from visiting my son and his wife. I loved the sunset and tried hard to find somewhere to pull over and capture it. However, I could not find anywhere to pull over while the sun was setting, but I did manage to pull over just after it set. I found a nice view with a silhouette of an old barn and liked it, so I captured it.

Sunset and Flowers at the Farm Photo of the Day 137/365 I took this photo a few days ago. I was out for my usual sunset walk and noticed that the neighbor had put down a fresh load of white gravel in a number of areas around the barns and home. I saw that they had also put out some flowers near this barn and decided to try to capture the scene with the sunset. I think it came out nicely.

Pretty Sunset Sky Photo of the Day 136/365 I took this photo earlier this week and, as happens, I sometimes get multiple shots of the sky from different vantage points.  Since I get multiple shots, I save some, since I only post one per day. I liked this shot and held it, knowing we had a busy week and likely, I'd need it. So, here it is. I hope you enjoy it as I do.

Bright Line in the Sky After the Storm Photo of the Day 135/365 Two nights ago, we had a thunderstorm complete with torrential rain and lightning. After getting home from class, I noticed the thin line of brightness in the sky. The time for sunset had passed, but the sky tried to show some small amount of the light of sunset after the storm.

Murky Sunset Sky Photo of the Day 134/365 I took this photo a few days ago while out on a sunset walk. It was an evening when I took a few "good" shots, and the next day, I picked one of the other photos to post. I did like this one, too, and am happy to post it now for everyone's enjoyment. 

Late Afternoon by the River Photo of the Day 133/365 On our way home on Mother's Day, we were driving home by the river. The afternoon sky looked, initially, to be very cloudy, but when we got down by the river, I saw the sky begin to get color near the horizon. I took a number of photos as we drove, but most did not come out well. This one, however, struck me with the tree limbs above and the nice color in the water.

Sunset Burning through the Trees Photo of the Day 132/365 I went out for multiple sunset walks a few nights ago. I tried to get different compositions and views of the sky and sunset. This view was taken at the edge of a copse of trees, and I liked how the sun shone through those trees. There were other compositions, but this one really caught my eye.

Amazing Colors Just After Sunset Photo of the Day 131/365 So last evening, I went out to try to capture some afternoon and sunset sky photos. I did get some really niche photos each time I went out. However, my wife said to turn around and see the pretty colors. When I turned around, I bolted for my third round and got this shot. The colors you see here are just what they were from the camera - they were truly amazing.

Afternoon Light and Flowers in the Field Photo of the Day 130/365 I went out last evening to try out my new camera. I wanted to give myself enough time to "play" and get a good walk in. The sky was crystal clear in the late afternoon, so while there would be a sunset, it would be mostly bland. I decided to try my luck with another subject and came across these flowers in a field, and I really liked how the image came out. I like the soft feel and the way the sunlight played in the field.

Unexpected Spring Sunset Photo of the Day 129/365 I was sitting at home, with my dog on my lap, most of the afternoon, yesterday. The sky looked very gray most of the time, so I had little hope for a sunset. With about 20 minutes to go, I saw the faint tinges of orange in the sky and had to get up to see what the western sky looked like. At first, I didn't see it, but the colors were starting to come out, and I took a chance and got this (really nice) surprise.

Spring Sunset Sky through the Trees Photo of the Day 128/365 Last evening, as we approached the time to end our karate class, I glanced out the window, and a glorious sunset met my eyes. I could not get out immediately, but I didn't wait too long. I ran out and was able to get a couple of photos before the end of class. This was the best of the two that I took.

Crazy Clouds after Sunset Photo of the Day 127/365 This photo was just seen by chance. I got home from my martial arts class quite some time after sunset. I had to stop to pick up dinner on the way home.  When I got home, I looked over my shoulder and saw these clouds from the end of my driveway. I did my best to capture what I saw. I only got two shots before the darkness took over, but I'm glad I got what I did.

Soft Spring Sunset Sky Photo of the Day 126/365 I looked out last evening, in hopes of a sunset, but the clouds indicated that there would not br one. I went out anyway and decided on a slightly different path than normal because the season is moving on. This sky greeted me. It didn't have the desired bright orange and gold sky, but it did have some oranges, but it also had wispy clouds and some dark blue as the evening came on.

Burnished Sunset Sky and Hills Photo of the Day 125/365 I took this photo this past weekend. I wanted to capture the sky beside the setting sun. The ripples in the clouds were neat under the blue above the clouds. It was a cool, breezy walk, and I liked looking across the fields to see the sky beyond the bright, setting sun.

Sunset through the Neighbor's Tree Photo of the Day 124/365 I went out last evening, just before sunset to try to do my normal activity and catch a sunset. When I got to the end of our driveway, I noticed the setting sun coming across the street through the neighbor's tree. I stopped and used a fence rail, to take this shot. I'm very pleased with this - no edits needed and it captured exactly what I saw.

A Hole in the Clouds at Sunset Photo of the Day 122/365 We had on-and-off rain during most of the afternoon, so I had little hope for a sunset. However, as the time approached, I saw that there was a brightening in the sky and a bit of color. I decided to go for my normal "sunset walk", and to see what I could capture. Initially, the sun came through the hole in the clouds, but after it went behind, this view came to be, and I was lucky enough to capture it.

Spring Day over a Green Field Photo of the day 121/365 I took this photo yesterday morning while out for a morning walk. The air was crisp, the skies were bright blue, but peppered with clouds drifting by. The recent rain had made the grass very green, and the scenery just seemed to scream "SPRING".  I grabbed a few photos on the walk, but I liked this one the best.
