Murky Afternoon across the Field Photo of the Day 120/365 I took this photo a little while ago, but it could have been today. Today was a murky, misty, rainy day. I did manage to get out for a walk and saw a very similar scene to this. The air was cool and still and very damp. I also want to post this photo to show that rainy days can be pretty, too.

Cape May Beach at Sunset Photo of the Day 119/365 When we were on vacation a couple of weeks ago, we were very lucky to get some pretty sunsets. We got rain, wind, and cold, too, but the sunsets were great. This view was the first night and I was scrambling to get as many photos as I could because I was not sure what else I worked get.

Sunset in the Trees Photo of the Day 118/365 I took this photo a few weeks ago while on vacation. I was determined to get a good sunset and saw this on our first evening at our home. While we were coming home from our first outing, I noted that the sun was setting and I should try to take a photo. This is a good memory of what the sunset looked like from our vacation spot.

Last Bit of Sun over the Treetops Photo of the Day 117/365 I was almost done last evening when I looked out over our yard and saw the last bit of the sun coming out of the clouds before setting. I decided to try my best to get a shot or two.  I managed to get a number of shots by balancing the iPhone on our fence to steady it, and took what I could. I liked this one the best.

Yellow Sky beyond the Field Photo of the Day 116/365 I took this photo late last week. The sun was still quite far from setting, but we wanted to beat the rain, so we went for our walk early. When I got to one of our "regular" spots, I noticed the yellow sky. After a moment, I also noted the orange colored wisps of clouds in the upper part of the yellow. I did my best to capture the clouds and the colors.

Sea Grass at Higbee Beach Photo of the Day 115/365 I took this photo last weekend while on vacation. I took too many photos to post them all during the weekend so I'll pepper them in over the next few weeks. I've always liked the ocean view with sand (or coastal rocks) and native flora. I see photos of this style often and really like to get my own versions.

Tree and Sunset Fire Photo of the Day 114/365 I took this photo about two weeks ago. I was out for an evening walk and happened to catch the sun setting before it was hidden by the coming clouds. As it shone, I was able to get a position so that the tree shaded the setting sun, making the tree look like it was on fire.

Sunset Pooling at Sky's Edge Photo of the Day 113/365 On the night we got home from vacation, all I saw was clouds, but I still needed to get a walk in, so I went out. When I got out, I found this thin band of sunset under some dark clouds and below some blue sky. I liked the layers and the contrast in the sky's colors. The wide view made this photo for me.

Last Sunrise of Vacation Photo of the Day 112/365 As I awoke on our last day of vacation, at 6:00am, I saw the sun trying to peak through our blinds. Trying not to wake anyone else, I managed to raise the blinds and took a few photos of the sun coming up across the street. I was too lazy, this trip, to get up early enough to get out of the house for a "real" sunrise shot, so I tried to get one here to ensure I got at least one photo of the sunrise.

Sunset Through an Arched Window Photo of the Day 111/365 I took this photo while on vacation this past weekend in Cape May, NJ. We got two glorious sunsets while we were there, and I took a number of photos. This one is a favorite as I truly like the framing and the view through the frame. This view is one of the reasons I wanted to revisit Cape May, and I have no regrets.

Last Night Sunset Did Not Disappoint Photo of the Day 110/365 So, last night was our last night on vacation, and the day had been rainy and extremely windy all day. We had ventured out once to a distillery, which was very good, and to Sunset Beach. The wind and rain was so bad that I only got a few shots. Near sunset, we tried again to get to the local cove to see what the weather would deliver. It was VERY nice, and we were blessed with a gorgeous sunset with colors, clouds and even reflections.

Fountain at Sunset Photo of the Day 109/365 I took this photo on Friday evening while walking back to our car after a visit to a shopping area, while on vacation.  This fountain is a mainstay of the area and I decided to pull a trick with my iPhone to get a shot with the water moving. The trick is to take a "live" photo, and after you're happy, there is an option to make it a "long exposure" photo. The trick worked, and I like how it came out.

Love at Cove Beach Photo of the Day 108/365 I took this photo last evening on a last-minute jaunt to Cove Beach after dinner. It was our first stop to Cove Beach, and the landscape has changed. From the parking lot, you can barely see the ocean. I moved up the ramp a little and managed to see this couple down at the beach with the sun getting ready to set and the water. I'm not really sure what was happening - it almost looked like a proposal, but I was not sure. I do, however, really like the photo.

Sun Setting and the Tree Photo of the Day 107/365 This photo was taken earlier in the week, in my neighbor's backyard. In my last two homes, I seem to gravitate to a tree within walking distance and photograph it often. This is the "new" tree in my walking perimeter. The tree will soon fill with spring leaves and will take on a whole new persona, and we'll see where I go with it - but this scene was a sun settingin the clouds.

Shimmering Sunset Sky through the Pines Photo of the Day 106/365 This photo comes from last weekend when I was trying to find multiple views of the setting sun. In truth, I never did get an actual shot of the sunset as there were too many other distractions in the way. I did get a number of sky shots, which were all wonderful as the sky changed so quickly.

Rain Clouds Veiling the Sunset Photo of the Day 105/365 My daughter and I went out on a sunset walk last evening. I had little thought of really getting a photo, but was looking forward to walking and talking. We found a few photos with the faint sunset glow along the horizon. When we reached a clearing, I noticed the layers of rain clouds that had been "in the way" of our sunset and tried to capture them. I liked the layers and really like the image.

Backyard Spring Sunrise Photo of the Day 104/365 I took this photo on one of my first mornings after retiring last week. I wanted to capture my mood in not having to be on the road to work at sunrise. I walked out onto our back deck and saw the sun rising through the trees. The feeling of freedom was exhilarating, and so peaceful watching the sun rise.

Another Sunset Sky over the River Photo of the Day 103/365 This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago on our way home from our annual Easter dinner at my sister-in-law's home. Based on the sky, I knew a "good" sunset was unlikely, but I wanted to see what I could get with the colors that were in the sky and the river. I took way too many photos, but most did not come out due to the motion of the moving car. I did manage a few, and this was one of the nicer ones.

Fiery Morning Sky and Pond Photo of the Day 102/365 This photo was taken at some time in the past. I'm not exactly sure when, but it was sometime in the past 12 years. I found some film rolls that I had developed and scanned. This photo was among the scenes, and I know I did not see this particular scene before my last job - so I know a timeframe but cannot get much closer than "in the past 12 years." However, I really like how it came out. I like the contrast and wild colors.

Sun Setting among the Trees Photo of the Day 101/365 This photo was taken this past Thursday at our karate school. We see the nicest sunsets, color-wise, but our only view is through the trees. The view is reduced as the year wears on and the leaves fill out the trees - but I'll enjoy this view while I can. I really liked the small streaks of white and actually catching the setting sun.

Blue Hills and a Dark Sunset Sky Photo of the Day 100/365 I took this photo two weekends ago while we were running an errand to our church. We were about to leave the parking lot when I was astonished by the sky and asked my wife to stop before we left. I got back out of the car and framed up this show with the distant rolling hills and the bright band of colors with the dark clouds above. I think it came out very nicely.

Shimmering Sunset Sky Photo of the Day 99/365 This photo was taken this past weekend while out on a shopping trip and waiting for an order to be processed. I was wandering outside of the plaza and saw a magnificent sunset sky, but could not get to too many spots where light poles, cars, or signs were in the way. I found a few spots, and it was worth the hunt as the sky was just wonderful.

Sunset Sky over the River Photo of the Day 98/365 I took this photo on our way home from our family Easter dinner at my sister-in-law's home in Harrisburg. We were riding on Front St. just as the sun tried to set, but was covered by the clouds. I took probably 30 photos as we drove and got 3 or 4 decent ones. This photo was the best, and I really liked how the clouds reflected in the water and the colors in the sky.

Sunset Sky over the Valley Photo of the Day 97/365 I took this photo this past weekend on the way home from dinner. My wife and I were traveling I noted to her that we were too early for sunset. We still drove across a number of back roads, but the sun was too bright. On our last stop, we went to one of my favorite spots, and there were clouds encroaching on the late afternoon sun. I decided to try to get what I could. I used the wide lens and did a little editing, and this view matched what I saw.

Beautiful Sunset Sky over the Trees Photo of the Day 96/365 I took this photo earlier last week and was just awestruck at the wonderful combination of colors and clouds in the sky. I was in a local plaza parking lot and was moving around, waiting for an order. While waiting, I found a number of angles, and the clouds were moving quickly so I just kept taking photos. You'll see more of them later.

Through the Murkiest Night, the Sun will Rise Happy Easter Photo of the Day 95/365 This photo was taken about two years ago, and it represents what I believe are many situations this Easter season. Many areas of life and culture appear to be very unclear and murky. However, I believe that the sun will still rise, and things will still improve. Happy Easter to all!

Sunset, Sky, and Tree Photo of the Day 94/365 We were out for a sunset walk last week, and I saw this sight in the neighbor's backyard. In our current home, as well as our last home, I found what I call "my favorite tree".  These trees called me many times, mostly at times of beautiful colors and great skies. These trees would make the photos much better than just the plain sky.

Predawn Clouds through the Pines Photo of the Day 93/365 I took this photo on my last day of work (this past Tuesday), but it was too early for the actual sunrise. I liked the deep reds and faint oranges and golds just coming up through the pine trees. These trees are at a tree farm, where the trees are mostly used for Christmas trees. I will likely not get another predawn or sunrise shot for some time as I'm enjoying my time "sleeping in."

Tongue of Fire at Sunset Photo of the Day 92/365 I took this photo two evenings ago while out on a sunset walk with my youngest child. She is still living at home, and now that I'm retired, we walk more. If you follow my daily post, you can see this photo in my phone on my phone in yesterday's Images Exposed photo. I looked out when we went and tried to hurry, but we missed the most dramatic colors. This last burst of "fire" was enough, and I like this image.

Sunrise Start to a New Adventure Photo of the Day 91/365 This sunrise was taken yesterday morning on my way to work. It was my last day of work at the University where I was employed. The sunrise was, to me, representative of a start to my new adventure. I had a great retirement party with many friends and colleagues, and all asked the question, "What will you do next?" I know I'll take more photos at more places, but for now, I'm just trying to get my bearings on my new life.
