Dawn over the Fields and Fence Photo of the Day 273/365 It's finally rolling around to the time when I can start to see wonderful sunrises, and if I don't have classes in the evening, I can catch sunsets, too!  I'm happiest at these times, because I have an extra reason to be happy on my way to work and perhaps a surprise, after work. The positions of the sun on the horizon changes and I can get new scenic shots and experience the master's handiwork in new ways - and maybe, just maybe, capture a few for memories.

Sunset Sky under the Willow Tree Photo of the Day 272/365 The sunset skies this weekend were just tremendous. We stopped at numerous locations and I took many photographs. I have been in my glory and my wonderful wife has indulged me in driving and suggesting locations while I absorb and take photos and make other suggestions on locations and placements. This one was taken at a local farm market where we parked at the far end and I went out under a willow that was meant as a place to relax and this photo presented itself to me. You can't beat the moment and I am so thankful for an understanding and encouraging wife.

Barn in Sunset Glow Photo of the Day 271/365 This year has been a banner one for sunsets and sunrises. This weekend, we were out for a quick errand when we saw the sunset and my wife asked if we should "taka a ride".  Of course, we did and we took photos from at least 3 different places. This one, was from our car, while slowing down to come to an intersection. The lighting was wonderful, the colors were magnificent and this scene was just so good.

Mist in the Valley just before Dawn Photo of the Day 270/365 Once again, the weather reporter was saying how foggy it was across our viewing area, but when I left for work, all I saw was a glorious morning sky. So, I HAD to pull off the road and grab some photos (you'll likely see some later) but when I zoomed in, I saw this image of the mist in the valleys against the hint of red with the soon-rising sun. It was a great morning for photos!

Sunset, Grass and Beach House Photo of the Day 269/365 This photo was captured last week while we were on vacation in Cape Cod.  We had a good time, and as many of you know, my "thing" is sunsets, sunrises, and skies - many times accompanied by other items of interest. I thought this image summed up some of our trip to Cape Cod - the sea grass, and beach house, and the nice sunset. I slept in every morning so I never saw a sunrise - maybe next time.

Autumn Pre-Dawn Sky Photo of the Day 268/365 Yesterday morning, on the weather, all I heard about was fog. Well, on the way to work, I was hoping for that magic mist for photos, but there wasn't any. Instead, as I rounded the corner just past some trees, this view welcomed me into my morning. There was no editing done to this - it is shown as my camera captured it. The colors in the sky were just amazing - it ran the gamut from blue to gold to purple. I'm glad I could capture the images I did of it, with no retouching needed.

First Full Autumn Sunset Sky Photo of the Day 267/365 Last evening, we had our son and his wife over for dinner, and just as they were leaving, he noted the sunlight reflecting.  I noticed that if things worked out right, I might be able to get a shot of the sunset from the first full day of Autumn. I managed to miss the sunset, but I DID catch the beautiful sky. It was worth it.

A Touch of Sunset over the Sea Grass Photo of the Day 266/365 This photo was taken on our recent trip to Cape Cod. As is usually the case, I get numerous photos that I like and when you only post one (or two) a day, there aren't enough days to post them, so they'll continue for a few more days, despite the fact that I'm now home and going over my images and re-integrating to my day-job. This photo is one I particularly like for the faint colors and the waving grass.  Good memories.

Sun Peeking Through the Trees Along the Canal Photo of the Day 265/365 I took this while out on our last night in Cape Cod. My wife had made a quick plan so I could see as much of the sunset as possible. We were driving along some back road in a trailer park watching for good scenes. I found this one and hopped out of the car. I tried to get the boats in the foreground and still get something of the sunset and realized that the sun was peeking through the trees - a WIN - for me.

Sunset over Buzzards Bay Photo of the Day 264/365 We took a drive on our last day on Cape Cod and my wife did a spectacular job at trying to find me places to take sunset photos from. She chose, on this last night, Buzzards Bay. It was relatively close to where we were staying and we'd never been there before. We explored and found some very interesting sights, but the sunset was spectacular over the harbor. The reflections in the water was great and the sky and clouds could not have been better. I've thanked her a number of times for best last night.

Saying Goodbye to Cape Code Photo of the Day 263/365 We are leaving our vacation spot for the fall - Cape Cod.  Many good memories were made. We saw things on this trip we hadn't seen last time. However, we have come to the conclusion that Acadia National Park, in Maine, is still our preferred destination. Maybe it was the "place" - maybe it was just the vibe of just coming off season vereus REALLY off-season - but it liked the scenery but still prefer Maine's coast. Sorry, Cape Cod, but we bid you adieu.

Boat on the Beach at Sunset Photo of the Day 262/365 When you have limited beach access, you take the photos that confront you. At sunset on our vacation, I saw this boat sitting near our entrance to the beach and took a few photos of it on successive evenings. This evening, the sunset was spectacular, but the homes didn't go well with the boat so I chose the horizon and the ocean and sky rather than the actual sunset. Our vacation comes to a close soon. I'll miss this place, but I think, on refelction, I'll choose our place in Maine.

Sunset Behind the Pilgrim Monument Photo of the Day 261/365 We were in Provincetown two evenings ago and were late to the game to get up to the Pilgrim's Monument. In fact, we took the last "elevator" up to the monument from downtown. We got up there and took some shots, and this one was my favorite with the sun setting behind it. It's a little skewed due to the wide angle lens, but it's still cool to me.  Unfortunately we took to long and had to walk the long way around to get back down. It was worth the view.

Sunset View over Wellfleet Harbor Photo of the Day 260/365 We were out all over on vacation yesterday and to finish, we wanted to eat at a restaruant that was recommended by a very close aunt of ours. The food did not disappoint, but we decided to eat on the patio where we could watch a sunset. It was pretty but just after the sun went down, the sky went from good to awesome. My wife told me to get over to the beach and try to catch it.  I waffled but did go and was so glad I went. What a sunset sky!!

Sailboat Returning to Harbor Photo of the Day 259/365 While on our way home from our day out, we decided to take a detour to Scussett Beach and as it was late afternoon, we could park at the beach and not have to pay! So we pulled off and walked the short distance to the jetty. As we explored a little, we saw a sailboat coming back into harbor. I took a bunch of shots, but this one had no distractions and I love the reflection in the water. No edits, just good luck!

Boat on the Beach Late in the Day Photo of Day 258/365 Last evening, just at sunset, we decided to go down to the beach to see what we could see. We had been out most of the day and were tired and sore, but decided to try our luck. On our way back, I found this boat in the last light of late afternoon. It was not bathed in the sunset glow due to the clouds but I thought light was nice enough and showed what being at the bcach meant.

Sunset and Beach House Photo of the Day 257/365 I took this photo last evening on our way to get some supper. We are on vacation in Cape Cod and we could not have had a better day and the sunset was simply gorgeous. While the beach house in the photo was not ours, it was near a clearing on our way to dinner. Unfortunately, we cannot see the sunset from our place (rental) but the setting is restful and I am already enjoying my time away.

Golden Clouds in the Morning Sky Photo of the Day 256/365 I took this photo a few days ago when I got out of my car on campus. The clouds were not that impressive on the way to work, so I didn't stop to take any photos.  However, the clouds were in the right spot when I got out of my car and I walked across the lot a short distance and was able to the this shot of the golden clouds in the pre-dawn sky. I love the blue of the sky and some of the clouds with the gold edges of the other clouds.

Flag Flying in the Afternoon Sky Photo of the Day 255/365 There are many things I couild say about this photo. It is from my archives and it was taken years ago while on vacation, I berlieve in Ocean City, MD. It has been in my archives, unposted because, then, I lacked the skills to make it what I saw. I am able to now and love the result. I also have hopes that America, and her people can, again, become respectful, caring, and upstanding in the world and to the world. I don't like where we are and what we've become - but I have hope.

Sunset Burning through the Trees Photo of the Day 254/365 This photo, taken a few days ago, is really wild for me. When I took it - the sun was just about gone from sight.  However, I was able to catch it just as it was going down through the trees and the clouds make it appear to be leaving a trail of smoke. I just like the imagery of this one, so I had to post it.

Misty Morning through the Pines Photo of the Day 253/365 I took this photo last last week on a very misty, foggy morning. I actaully stopped at three different places on the way to work.  The scenes were  just so different, allowing me to take photo as some of the same places I've shot before, butt the mist and fog made them look SO different that I had to stop. This was one of them as the view between the pines was amazing and almost spooky.

Nice September Sunset Photo of the Day 252/365 I took this photo only two days ago. I had been wondering if there would be enough clouds to make the sky interesting at sunset. There was no question I would see a sunset (if I wanted to) - but without clouds or some other item of interest, there's little point sometimes. Well, this night, there were enough clouds and even a young rider on a four-wheeler to make a nice afternoon. So I got this photo of the setting sun with the "big sky" and I really liked it - no editing at all.

Bands of Blue and Gold at Sunset Photo of the Day 251/365 This photo was taken last week and I loved the view, the colors, and the foliage in the foreground - but - the camera, many times, cannot reproduce what my eye saw. So, after some real work editing, it finally looks like I saw it to be. The reds and gold against the blue of the sky and clouds and the barely lit foreground - all are now as I remember them. And all I had to do was walk across the street.

Barn and Flowers in Sunset Glow Photo of the Day 250/365 This photo was taken last weekend while trying to get a "different" sunset photo. Most of my photos are taken at a farm that is near my home. Sometimes (many times), I try to get "something different". I've been seeing these flowers for some time but the sunset never seeemed to be in a spot where I could include them - until last weekend. So I managed to get the flowers, the barn AND the sunset sky. I like how this view goes beyond the "farm" shot.

Misty Morning over the Pond Photo of the Day 249/365 This photo was taken yesterday morning on my way to work. The weather lady said it was very foggy but when I looked out our back window, it looked clear. Well, when I left the house, it became obvious that I was wrong and the fog was present. When I was about to turn a corner, I noted the sun trying peak out from under the clouds so I stopped the car, got out and took a few snaps. This came out just the way I saw it and I really like the capture.

Red Clouds and Blue Hills Photo of the Day 248/365 This photo was taken earlier this week while out on a walk with my youngest. We were talking and walking and on our return leg of the walk. We were well past sunset, but I'm always looking for a good photo. I looked to the west and saw these bands of red clouds . The fading sunlight was glinting from the edges and they contrasted with the blue hills so well. I took the shot and this is unedited - no extra color boost or saturation - it was this good that evening.

Sunset through the Trees Photo of the Day 247/365 A few nights ago, my wife and I were out running errands and we took a few back roads to get home. We had stopped by some nice scenes (and yes, I did capture them) - but this place, one of the last stops really caught my eye. I tried to get an angle that elminated all the close branches but could not, so I got this. In the end, I think the branches seem to give some framing to the image and I like them there, after all.

Sunset with Clouds over the Field Grass Photo of the Day 246/365 I went out for a walk with my daughter last evening. The discussions we have on our walks are very deep sometimes and, in many instance, I wonder where she is going with her thoughts. Today was rough day for her and I can tell it was difficult for her to make it through the day, so the thoughts wandered into fate and desitiny and thoughts of senses of time. Despite the conversation, I managed to capture this photo and the clouds partially masking the sun and the coming evening just seemed to give me peace.

Sunset over the Growing Pines Photo of the Day 2456/365 I took this photo on the way to work yesterday morning. I could not resist the view of the rising sun over the young pine trees. The tiny slice of sunrise with the "big sky" of blue with just a hint of clouds made the scene very pretty to me. I love when the year turns to sunrises and I can catch them ont he way to work and get a nice start to the day.

End of August Sunset Photo of the Day 244/365 I had a completely different photo chosen for today, when I realized the time and saw the sun setting. I had time so I sauntered to the neighbor's farm and walked about a bit. As the sun was sinking, I found the tree in their back yard and decided that the colors and light were just right for the image I wanted - and I think I was right. The year seems to be going by so fast - it is September by the time you see this - where did the time go?
