Sunset through the trees

 

 

Out for another walk. The smoke from the western wildfires make for beautiful sunsets here. They have been great for a couple of weeks - and I'm going to take full advantage when I can. This view through these trees was another "hold on, I see a photo" moment, when my family sighs and stops to wait for me. Oh well, I thank them and am grateful they put up with me.

Shisa hanging from my Mirror

Shisa are the Okinawan version of Chinese Fu Dogs. They are supposed to protect you and ward off evil spirits. On Okinawa, you find them almost everywhere. I have 3 sets of them in my office at work. It may stop evil, but not "other" troublesome spirits.

Red Tinged Clouds over the Trees Photo of the Day 345/366 I took the photo last week on the way home. It was a wonderful sunset sky and I couldn't pass up taking a number of shots while it was available. These clouds with the red edges from the setting sun were a wonderful sight over these trees just behind the rolling field in the foreground. A nice evening sky for sure.

    Photo of the Day 307/365  Autumn Colors on Display by the Creek This photo was taken last weekend on our mini-vacation. We were on our way home and happened to find a pull-off - in the rain - and I took some photos by this creek. The colors just seemed to pop in the damp drizzly weather but the camera couldn't quite capture the bright colors. I didn't want to over-edit it but this is close to what I experienced that moment.

Tracks into the Sunset Photo of the Day 342/366 This photo was taken last evening on the way home from work. I took a number of photos and could not quite get the sun peeking through  the clouds. This is the closest I got. I love the colors in the sky and the reflections in the railroad tracks. I've taken this scene before, but it always makes me think of life moving on and on, rolling into the sunset of life - as I get older, those thoughts become more frequent.
