Farm after Sunset Photo of the Day 175/365 Last weekend, I got a wonderful sunset and had to take photos at different locations until the sunset sky ran out. This was one of the last photos I took during our local road trip for this very purpose. I loved how the sunset clouds had broken up just after the sun went down, and the farm in the foreground. The scene projected that "rural" feel for me.

Sunset, Sunbeams, and Blue Hills Photo of the Day 174/365 This past weekend, we saw an amazing sunset, and my wife and I drove to a number of locations. This show was from the first stop that we made, and the furthest north on our jaunt. We were pulled into an empty church parking lot with an amazing valley view. This shot showed the sunbeams coming from the clouds and the blue hills at the far end of the valley. I really liked this photo,

Backroad to a Dark Sunset Photo of the Day 173/365 On a road trip this weekend, we were trying to find locations for future sunsets and hoped to be able to catch a sunset. Unfortuantely, the rain clouds had other ideas. My wife decided to go down a road through a local game lands. As we topped a hill, I asked her to stop the car and back up just a bit. I found this view of this road going into the cloudy sunset. The clouds did give way later but I thought this looked dramatic.

Double Rainbow over the Field Photo of the Day 172/365 Last evening, my wife and I decided to get out of the house and go for another drive to scout locations for more sunset photos. The sun was trying to set, but rainclouds were moving in. We drove down a number of roads I had never been on, but we came out of the rain and saw the sun shining through the clouds, and I said we needed to be on the lookout for a rainbow. I got my wish and got a double showing over the field! Happy Father's Day!!

Sunset through the Dust Photo of the Day 171/365 We saw the sun setting last evening, and my wife and I decided to try to get out of the house and drive around, seeing if we could get some sunset time and photos. We made it to our first location, and I did get some captures, and then moved on. While going down the road, my wife exclaimed at one stop at the sun setting through the field dust. I did manage to get one shot before we had to move. I like how it came out.

Sunset on the Water Photo of the Day 170/365 Some days you just have to let things happen. This was one of those days. The sun had set, and the stress was falling away. The water reflected the sky, and the day was ending well. It helped the stresses of the day drain away with the fleeing clouds. I can only hope you have those kinds of days.

Sunset Behind the Tree Photo of the Day 169/365 Last evening, I was not very hopeful of a good sunset. The sky was so clear as the afternoon waned, and I was a little depressed as the heavy equipment began to tear up and flatten the farm fields where I love to take photos. I glanced out of our front window and happened to see a wonderful sunset with colorful clouds near the horizon just outside my front yard. I did get a few nice photos, and this was the best.

End of a Sunset Location Photo of the Day 168/365 When we got home from vacation, my wife informed me that the land plan for a local housing development had been approved. I didn't realize, at that moment, that the plan would destroy our neighbor's farm. Literally, the developer started on Monday after approval was granted. There was heavy equipment everywhere, and work began. My favorite spot for walking sunsets is now going to be gone. I am sad about this and am wondering what to do next.

Storm Coming In Over the Field Photo of the Day 167/365 Yesterday, the day was filled with the chance of thunderstorms and at times, tornadic activity. We were out, and I was trying to get some photos of the dark, dramatic clouds. I got this shot very shortly before it rained. I especially liked the leading lines of the field with the dark clouds.

Sunset on the River - Welcome Home Photo of the Day 166/365 On our trip home from vacation, we were exhausted. Between us, we had driven about 700 miles in 12 hours or so. We were tired, and still, my wife wanted to take a more scenic drive on the last leg of our trip. We were driving down by the Susquehanna River just after sunset, and the sky was awesome, and I struggled to turn enough in our car to grab a few good shots -  but I managed. What a view to welcome us home.

Goodbye to Maine for Now Photo of the Day 165/365 Yesterday was the end of our Maine vacaation and now we're back home. The morning was very foggy (again), cool, and breezy. We rushed around and got packed up, cleaned up the cabin, did the dishes, took out the garbage, and ate breakfast. When we went to do the final packing of the car, I looked out over the view we had and had to take one last photo. It was 55 degrees when we left, and 87 degrees when we arrived home, 12 hours later...back to reality.

Misty Shore Morning Photo of the Day 164/365 Yesterday morning, I woke up early and looked out to see, virtually nothing. The fog and mist were so thick that I could barely see the trees. When it got a little lighter, I looked down our driveway and saw this view - a very misty view of the shore in the early morning. It was so quiet and peaceful. And by the time you read this, I'll be heading back to the real world.

Lupines on the Cove Photo of the Day 163/365 Yesterday was the 43rd anniversary for my wife and I. After breakfast and some shopping at a VERY large antique barn (The Big Chicken Barn) - we decided to drive around a bit, get dinner, and drive around some more. Here in Maine, it is the time for lupines. Since most lupines are purple and appear to grow randomly, I wanted to get some good photos, and we drove about until I found some good shots. I like this one the best.

Cloudy View of Southwest Harbor from Manset Photo of the Day 162/365 Today is our 43rd Wedding Anniversary, and I can't believe that she's put up with me for this long. Even getting this photo. She's been driving a great deal as my vision is not the best and she's taken to liking to drive. She decided to go down an unknown road, and she found this site. She is so patient and so caring about what I want (mostly photography), and I'm undeserving. This was a beautiful view made possible by my beautiful wife.

Another Glorious Sunset on the Cove Photo of the Day 161/365 When I'm on vacation, especially, I can wait for a photo. I can get creative and try many angles. I'm not in a hurry. Last evening's sunset was a waiting game. The clouds did not look like they would permit a nice sunset, but I decided to sit by the water and wait it out. I was rewarded with this last view of the sun for the day. I think it was worth it.

Coastal Scene on Schoodic Point Photo of the Day 160/365 Yesterday was a gorgeous day. After a rainy day that ended in a spectacular sunset, we arose to a blue sky with cool temperatures and a breeze. After breakfast, we decided to drive on to the Schoodic Peninsula. We've done this drive at least 20 times and knew where to stop. I liked the sweeping sky with the dead tree and the rocky coast. It says "Maine Coast" to me.

Ocean Sunset after a Rainy Day Photo of the Day 159/365 Yesterday was a rainy day and cool for June. As most of you know, I love my sunsets, but this day did not seem to be the day. As we made it back to our cottage and had supper, it seemed less likely. Suddenly I spotted orange on the western horizon. I asked my wife if she saw it, and she said no. I went out to get one last look and saw it getting brighter. This photo was the result - very much worth the wait.

Troll Welcomes You to the Garden Photo of the Day 158/365 We are finally on vacation and travelled to a place I've wanted to visit for quite some time. I've seen photos of these trolls and wanted to see them for myself. We got to the Boothbay Harbor Botanical Garden and did enough hiking to see three of these magnificent trolls. It was a hard choice which of the three that we saw, that I liked the best, but I chose the friendliest one for this daily photo.

Last Sunset before Vacation Photo of the Day 157/365 So, the night before we left, I found this view through the neighbor's trees. I had been out trying but this one seemed fitting as it was one of the last views, on the last evening, before we left. The colors in the sky were great, and the little dab of the sun made the shot complete.

Farmhouse at Golden Hour Photo of the Day 156/365 I got home from my classes last evening and saw what I thought was a milky sky. On my way, I didn't think there was much to shoot. I took some things out to load into our car and saw how the sky had lit up with colors after the sunset, and went out for a quick walk. On the way back, I noticed the neighbor's house and the colorful clouds and couldn't pass up the composition.

Sunset Tree and Colorful Sky Photo of the Day 155/365 Two nights ago, I went out and found a fantastic sunset sky, and actually made it in time to see the sunset. In this photo, the sun was setting behind the tree in the foreground. I also liked the nice colors in the sky's clouds. The cloud's colors, along with the blue, made a nice palette.

Sunset and Heavy Equipment Photo of the Day 154/365 Last evening, I was waiting for my wife to return from a meeting and sat with my dog, marvelling at the setting sun. I could not wait for her to get home, so I penned my dog into the dining room and headed out for a sunset walk. I got a number of really good views, but as I looked further, I saw this backhow in the field and worked to get it into the view of the shot. I liked the composition.

First June Sunset Photo of the Day 153/365 On my way home from classes last evening, I could not help but see the beautiful sunset sky. I made two stops on the way home.  The first stop was in our local town, and I could see the streaming clouds. The second stop was in my neighbor's driveway. I rushed back so I could catch the entire sky with the red line at the horizon with the streaming clouds. The last stop was the best one.

Sunfire Behind the Neighbor's Tree Photo of the Day 152/365 Two evenings ago, I was not hopeful of getting the time and emotional energy to get a sunset photo. Life's been pretty tough around my home this past week, and I haven't wanted to walk much recently. However, two evenings ago, I was out with my dog and saw the sun setting behind the neighbor's tree and was able to move within my front yard to get this photo.
