Throwback to Nauset Light on Cape Cod

I took this photo on our Thanksgiving trip to Cape Cod. It was a memorable trip and one I hope to repeat. This shot was a Nauset Lighthouse. It was a sunny, cold day on Cape Cod and the wispy clouds were overhead. I took this photo using an app called Firstlight in an "infrared" mode to get that deep dark sky with much separation between sky and clouds. I find it very close to a Wratten red filter on film. I think the backlit lighthouse and the sky pair up for a neat photo and I miss that place.

I tend to be one of our church's photographers and capture events as they happen.  Last week, our choir did their Christmas Cantata and this photo is of the Choir Director.  Normally, he is a serious, staid University Professor, but when he leads singing, he becomes animated, jokes around, and, for most of us, comes out of his shell. It was fun capturing this.

Red Tinged Clouds over the Trees Photo of the Day 345/366 I took the photo last week on the way home. It was a wonderful sunset sky and I couldn't pass up taking a number of shots while it was available. These clouds with the red edges from the setting sun were a wonderful sight over these trees just behind the rolling field in the foreground. A nice evening sky for sure.

    Photo of the Day 307/365  Autumn Colors on Display by the Creek This photo was taken last weekend on our mini-vacation. We were on our way home and happened to find a pull-off - in the rain - and I took some photos by this creek. The colors just seemed to pop in the damp drizzly weather but the camera couldn't quite capture the bright colors. I didn't want to over-edit it but this is close to what I experienced that moment.

Tracks into the Sunset Photo of the Day 342/366 This photo was taken last evening on the way home from work. I took a number of photos and could not quite get the sun peeking through  the clouds. This is the closest I got. I love the colors in the sky and the reflections in the railroad tracks. I've taken this scene before, but it always makes me think of life moving on and on, rolling into the sunset of life - as I get older, those thoughts become more frequent.
