Sun Setting Behind a Lonely Tree

Photo of the Day 85/366

I shot this photo a few days ago. This tree is in my neighbor's back yard and features in many of my photos, simply because it is easy to get to at sunset. There are times when I'm busy with other things and realize, too late, that sunset is upon me, so I burst out of the door trying to capture "something". This is "something".

This photo was taken about two years ago while out on a "sunset mission". We were on our way home from a family gathering and my wife decided to travel the back roads rather than the main road. She wanted to give me a chance to take photos. I asked her to stop often, as the traffic was light and this was one of the spots. This is one of the few roads in our area that is still lined with a rock wall for a fence. The stormy skies made the image even that much more compelling.

Red Tinged Clouds over the Trees Photo of the Day 345/366 I took the photo last week on the way home. It was a wonderful sunset sky and I couldn't pass up taking a number of shots while it was available. These clouds with the red edges from the setting sun were a wonderful sight over these trees just behind the rolling field in the foreground. A nice evening sky for sure.

    Photo of the Day 307/365  Autumn Colors on Display by the Creek This photo was taken last weekend on our mini-vacation. We were on our way home and happened to find a pull-off - in the rain - and I took some photos by this creek. The colors just seemed to pop in the damp drizzly weather but the camera couldn't quite capture the bright colors. I didn't want to over-edit it but this is close to what I experienced that moment.

Tracks into the Sunset Photo of the Day 342/366 This photo was taken last evening on the way home from work. I took a number of photos and could not quite get the sun peeking through  the clouds. This is the closest I got. I love the colors in the sky and the reflections in the railroad tracks. I've taken this scene before, but it always makes me think of life moving on and on, rolling into the sunset of life - as I get older, those thoughts become more frequent.
