After Sunset Across the Valley

On our way home, last evening, after taking my father-in-law for a visit to the hospital, to see his wife, we were noting the beauty of the sunset. My wife and I were thinking of places to go to shoot the sunset. I don't like to inconvenience anyone, so we decided to go about 2 miles from my home into a church parking lot. This was the result - totally worth it.

This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago. We went to a local garden store just after it had rained and while my wife looked for plants to buy, I wandered about looking for photo ops. The leaf in this photo was enormous and held onto the raindrops, allowing them to bead-up. In other cases, the air had already dried some of the plants, but this one remained, so I captured it.

Red Tinged Clouds over the Trees Photo of the Day 345/366 I took the photo last week on the way home. It was a wonderful sunset sky and I couldn't pass up taking a number of shots while it was available. These clouds with the red edges from the setting sun were a wonderful sight over these trees just behind the rolling field in the foreground. A nice evening sky for sure.

    Photo of the Day 307/365  Autumn Colors on Display by the Creek This photo was taken last weekend on our mini-vacation. We were on our way home and happened to find a pull-off - in the rain - and I took some photos by this creek. The colors just seemed to pop in the damp drizzly weather but the camera couldn't quite capture the bright colors. I didn't want to over-edit it but this is close to what I experienced that moment.

Tracks into the Sunset Photo of the Day 342/366 This photo was taken last evening on the way home from work. I took a number of photos and could not quite get the sun peeking through  the clouds. This is the closest I got. I love the colors in the sky and the reflections in the railroad tracks. I've taken this scene before, but it always makes me think of life moving on and on, rolling into the sunset of life - as I get older, those thoughts become more frequent.
