Sunset, Barn, and Field

Photo of the Day 215/365

I went on a LONG road trip yesterday, to midstate Virginia and back home to witness some blackbelt tests. When I got home, I was tired and exhausted from the drive. Shortly after I got home, I saw the coming sunset and asked my daughter if she wanted a walk. She said yes, and it gave me a chance to stretch my legs. This scene greeted us. while I would normally have posted a closer view of the sunset, I liked the wider view to include the barns, for a different feel - I think it works.

Sunday Monochrome: This photo was taken from my archives and was captured a few years ago, near my in-law's home, At that time, they had the boat there just in case they needed to get out on the pond, but rarely used it. I tried this photo in color and it was just too green so I tried black and white and I think it works. My father-in-law has passed on and my mother-in-law is in a skilled-care home. I have good memories of these times, though.

Red Tinged Clouds over the Trees Photo of the Day 345/366 I took the photo last week on the way home. It was a wonderful sunset sky and I couldn't pass up taking a number of shots while it was available. These clouds with the red edges from the setting sun were a wonderful sight over these trees just behind the rolling field in the foreground. A nice evening sky for sure.

Tracks into the Sunset Photo of the Day 342/366 This photo was taken last evening on the way home from work. I took a number of photos and could not quite get the sun peeking through  the clouds. This is the closest I got. I love the colors in the sky and the reflections in the railroad tracks. I've taken this scene before, but it always makes me think of life moving on and on, rolling into the sunset of life - as I get older, those thoughts become more frequent.

    Photo of the Day 307/365  Autumn Colors on Display by the Creek This photo was taken last weekend on our mini-vacation. We were on our way home and happened to find a pull-off - in the rain - and I took some photos by this creek. The colors just seemed to pop in the damp drizzly weather but the camera couldn't quite capture the bright colors. I didn't want to over-edit it but this is close to what I experienced that moment.
