Retirement Day

Photo(s) of the Day 90/365

Today is my last day of gainful, full-time employment.  I've been the IT field for about 43 years. I've seen many changes and had more than a few jobs and duties. I've done everything from computer assembly, mainframe operations, networking, security, database administration, programming, and even executive management. I've worked in government, the private sector, and, in my last job, the educational world. My last job was the best. I've met great people, both users and co-workers, and have had many photo opportunities.  The collage of photos are from my time at Messiah University. Good luck to them as I take my leave.

Tuesday Built, Found, and Painted: This set of old wooden stairs is a memory. It was there when I started my most recent job, and allowed people to go from a road down to a bridge and the creek below. My time at this job, and all full-time jobs, comes to a close. I found this set of steps while out on a walk by myself and the photo has good memories for me. It's been replaced by newer, more "safe" steps but there is something to be said for the old, experienced, and memorable ones.

Sunset and Field Grass Photo of the Day 335/365 I took this photo over the Thanksgiving Holiday (here in the states). I was out for a very short sunset walk. I really wanted to catch the sunset itself, this time, so I left a little early. In reality, I left a little too early and it was a little cold, but I managed to hold and and try to get some good images. I really like how this one came out. I like the sunshine hitting the grass and the streaming clouds. It looks alot warmer than it was.

Reds in the Sky before the Dawn Photo of the Day 24/365 I had been hoping for a nice sunrise yesterday morning but there was a huge sweeping bank of clouds right where the sunrise would be. But as I looked closer, I saw the pinds and reds at the horizon and thought that if I cold make them the focus, I could get a good photo. I tried to frame that part of the sky with a nearby tree and I think I got what I wanted.

 Streamers in the Dawn Sky Photo of the Day 241/365 I found this scene on the way to work yesterday morning. As the days move on in the year, the sun rises earlier and earlier. The sun was actually higher in the sky than I'd like for a sunrise photo, but I zoomed out to the widest setting I had so that the sun would appear lower in the sky, and the streaming clouds would reach up into the blue. I really like how this image came out!
