Sunset Sky over the Valley
Photo of the Day 97/365
I took this photo this past weekend on the way home from dinner. My wife and I were traveling I noted to her that we were too early for sunset. We still drove across a number of back roads, but the sun was too bright. On our last stop, we went to one of my favorite spots, and there were clouds encroaching on the late afternoon sun. I decided to try to get what I could. I used the wide lens and did a little editing, and this view matched what I saw.

Gateway Arch in the Afternoon

Tuesday Built, Found, and Painted: This nationally known monument is one of my favorites to photograph, especially in the afternoon light. The metallic finish of the arch just catches the glow of sunset clouds, and it is so high that it allows the sky to show through. I need to get back there this year.
