Blue Hills and a Dark Sunset Sky

Photo of the Day 100/365

I took this photo two weekends ago while we were running an errand to our church. We were about to leave the parking lot when I was astonished by the sky and asked my wife to stop before we left. I got back out of the car and framed up this show with the distant rolling hills and the bright band of colors with the dark clouds above. I think it came out very nicely.

Friday Nature: The birds are back at our feeder, and I am daily trying to capture the different birds. I managed to capture this wren - and it is the first time I have captured a wren. I hear them often but usually see finches and cardinals. I'm happy I got this one.

Sunset and Field Grass Photo of the Day 335/365 I took this photo over the Thanksgiving Holiday (here in the states). I was out for a very short sunset walk. I really wanted to catch the sunset itself, this time, so I left a little early. In reality, I left a little too early and it was a little cold, but I managed to hold and and try to get some good images. I really like how this one came out. I like the sunshine hitting the grass and the streaming clouds. It looks alot warmer than it was.

Reds in the Sky before the Dawn Photo of the Day 24/365 I had been hoping for a nice sunrise yesterday morning but there was a huge sweeping bank of clouds right where the sunrise would be. But as I looked closer, I saw the pinds and reds at the horizon and thought that if I cold make them the focus, I could get a good photo. I tried to frame that part of the sky with a nearby tree and I think I got what I wanted.

 Streamers in the Dawn Sky Photo of the Day 241/365 I found this scene on the way to work yesterday morning. As the days move on in the year, the sun rises earlier and earlier. The sun was actually higher in the sky than I'd like for a sunrise photo, but I zoomed out to the widest setting I had so that the sun would appear lower in the sky, and the streaming clouds would reach up into the blue. I really like how this image came out!
