Sun Setting and the Tree

This photo was taken earlier in the week, in my neighbor's backyard. In my last two homes, I seem to gravitate to a tree within walking distance and photograph it often. This is the "new" tree in my walking perimeter. The tree will soon fill with spring leaves and will take on a whole new persona, and we'll see where I go with it - but this scene was a sun settingin the clouds.

Friday Nature: Ever since my childhood days in the fields and farms, I've always enjoyed the call of the red-winged blackbird. As I've grown older, that enjoyment has not ceased. On my early morning walk yesterday, I heard them calling and spotted two of them at the top of some nearby trees. I couldn't resist the urge to try to capture one of them. This was the best shot, zoomed in as far as I couild go.

Sunset and Field Grass Photo of the Day 335/365 I took this photo over the Thanksgiving Holiday (here in the states). I was out for a very short sunset walk. I really wanted to catch the sunset itself, this time, so I left a little early. In reality, I left a little too early and it was a little cold, but I managed to hold and and try to get some good images. I really like how this one came out. I like the sunshine hitting the grass and the streaming clouds. It looks alot warmer than it was.

Reds in the Sky before the Dawn Photo of the Day 24/365 I had been hoping for a nice sunrise yesterday morning but there was a huge sweeping bank of clouds right where the sunrise would be. But as I looked closer, I saw the pinds and reds at the horizon and thought that if I cold make them the focus, I could get a good photo. I tried to frame that part of the sky with a nearby tree and I think I got what I wanted.

 Streamers in the Dawn Sky Photo of the Day 241/365 I found this scene on the way to work yesterday morning. As the days move on in the year, the sun rises earlier and earlier. The sun was actually higher in the sky than I'd like for a sunrise photo, but I zoomed out to the widest setting I had so that the sun would appear lower in the sky, and the streaming clouds would reach up into the blue. I really like how this image came out!
