Cloudy Warm Summer Sunset

We've passed the halfway point for the year and the summer heat has been on. We finally got a partial break a couple of days ago, and the temperatures dropped to "bearable". Despite cloudy weather, I looked out just before sunset and found that there was a clearing spot in the clouds and a potential sunset sky. I got out and nabbed a few photos before the sun sank behind the final clouds, and I really like the outcome.

Thursday Fill-the-Frame: This photo was taken a few years ago at our previous home. I had been out for an afternoon walk, and the chicory was in bloom. I found both blue and white chicory flowers. I managed to get one flower that was blooming away from the others, and far enough from the corn stalks that the background would be good. The sunlight creating shadows in the flower are an added bonus.

Simple Spring Sunrise Sky Photo of thd Day 88/365 I took this photo yesterday morning on the way to work. Initially, I saw the bright reds at the horizon. However, when I got my car stopped in a safe spot and got out, I saw the "big picture" of the sky. The open sky, the few simple clouds, and the blue to red above, I had to take the larger shot. It was the start to a great (but VERY long) day.

Sunset View through the Window Photo of the Day 83/365 This photo was taken earler in the season. It was taken while waiting for some co-workers while on the campus of the university where I work. We were having dinner and were trying to wait their arrival but travel delays caused things to be late. I decided to look around and see what could be captured - this was the result.

Snow and Ice by the Lake Photo of the Day 51/365 This photo was taken at our local State Park (Gifford Pinchot) and it was a cold sunset sky. It had been cold enough for some time for the lake to freeze over. The snow had started to melt due to the sunshine and that eveing, the sunset was wonderful (but cold). That lade is and will be, one of my fave local spots.
