Beautiful Colors of Sunset

Photo of the Day 221/365

Late last week, I was able to see some spectacular sunsets. Sometimes, though, the sky after the sunset is just as beautiful as the sunset itself. The evening I took this was just such a night. The sky lit up with color, and I was able to capture it on my way back from my walk.

Sunday Monochrome: When I am on vacation, I love taking photos. When I visit the same location for years, I look for new ways to capture familiar and loved sites. The Parson's Bridge is in Somesville, Maine, and is a place I love to visit, but I have seen it on at least 15 visits. This was a new way to see it, and I like it.

Simple Spring Sunrise Sky Photo of thd Day 88/365 I took this photo yesterday morning on the way to work. Initially, I saw the bright reds at the horizon. However, when I got my car stopped in a safe spot and got out, I saw the "big picture" of the sky. The open sky, the few simple clouds, and the blue to red above, I had to take the larger shot. It was the start to a great (but VERY long) day.

Sunset View through the Window Photo of the Day 83/365 This photo was taken earler in the season. It was taken while waiting for some co-workers while on the campus of the university where I work. We were having dinner and were trying to wait their arrival but travel delays caused things to be late. I decided to look around and see what could be captured - this was the result.

Snow and Ice by the Lake Photo of the Day 51/365 This photo was taken at our local State Park (Gifford Pinchot) and it was a cold sunset sky. It had been cold enough for some time for the lake to freeze over. The snow had started to melt due to the sunshine and that eveing, the sunset was wonderful (but cold). That lade is and will be, one of my fave local spots.
