Sunset at the Endo of the Road Photo of the Day 90/365 I captured this image over the weekend. I was out for a walk with my youngest and, as usual, I was hoping for a beautiful sunset. On this evening, I was not disapponted. The sky, initially, waa bland but I was hopeful. On our return leg of the walk, I paused to see the sun setting at the end of this road and did my best to capture it. The sky became colorful and glorious at the very end.

Sunrise under the Branches Phot of the Day 89/265 I thook this phoot over the weekend. The sun had just risen and I did my best to get everything in focus. The streaky clouds in the fiery red dawn just made the photo pop out of the camera. I wanted to include the leaves starting to come out on the tree branches. This tree is a little ahead of most - you can see the bare branches on the trees in the distance.  Spring has sprung!

Simple Spring Sunrise Sky Photo of thd Day 88/365 I took this photo yesterday morning on the way to work. Initially, I saw the bright reds at the horizon. However, when I got my car stopped in a safe spot and got out, I saw the "big picture" of the sky. The open sky, the few simple clouds, and the blue to red above, I had to take the larger shot. It was the start to a great (but VERY long) day.

Sunset over the Field Photo of the Day 87/365 This photo was taken in our neighborhood while the wild grass was still growing. The farms are starting to come alive as the spring season moves on. The grasses will soon be turned over as the fields are plowed and fertilized - the days get warmer and (hopefully) the skies stay just as beautiful as this.

Road in the Misty Spring Woods Photo of the Day 86/365 This photo was taken a few years ago at our cabin. The location of the photo was at "the top of the mountain". There is an access road into the public area. The road is made for ATVs and 4-wheel drive vehicles and foot traffic. It's a dirt road (usually mud) and steep - but woth the climb. Once you get away from the trail head (or foot) - it is so quiet and serene - worth the effort.

Misty Day on the River Photo of the Day 85/365 This photo was taken several years ago when we still had our cabin. We had gone on a drive from there and found a boat launch near the river and I decided to do a little exploring. I came down to a small spit of land and saw this nice view up the river. It was mid-morning and with the weather, no one was there, so the water was quiet and still. It made for a nice landscape.

Spring Trees and Sunset Sky Photo of the Day 84/365 As the spring season progresses, the buds and leaves come out in their due time. Some years, it feels like a heartbeat and we're all in the green.  Other years, the green seems to slowly seep out of the trees. This is one of the years when the greens of spring are seeming to slowly eke their way into existence. These trees are in process and the sky was wonderful.

Sunset View through the Window Photo of the Day 83/365 This photo was taken earler in the season. It was taken while waiting for some co-workers while on the campus of the university where I work. We were having dinner and were trying to wait their arrival but travel delays caused things to be late. I decided to look around and see what could be captured - this was the result.

Sunset in the Farm Valley Photo of the Day 82/365 I saw this view yesterday but not like this. Yesterday, we laid to rest my father-in-law and this view was always on display on the road shortly before we went to see him or when we left. I choset this photo in honor of those memories. This photo was real and how I saw it on one of our many trips to his place to see him. RIP Jerry, you will be missed -but now you are with your family and friends who passed before.

Sky Waiting for the Sunrise Photo of the Day 81/365 I took this photo yesterday morning on the way to work. With the change of schedule (Daylight Savings Time), I don't see the sunrise on the way to work. However, this sky beckoned me to take a photo - the colors were just teasing of a nice sunrise and the clouds agreed. I couldn't wait for the actual sunrise, but I did get to enjoy those pre-dawn colors.

Hawk above the Pines at Sunset Phot of the Day 80/365 This phoeo was taken from my archives. I remember taking the photo and never feeling it was "right" as my vision of the photo when I took it versus what the camera captured were not together.  Now, editing tools are such that I could get it much closer to what I "envisioned". This is the result with pink tinged clouds and the deep blue sky.

Sunset Sky through the Trees Photo of the Day 79/365 I captured this photo last evening. It was warm enough that we did some of our basic workout, outside and I noted that there would not be much of a sunset. Well, by the end of the workout, there was fine line of orange at the bottom edge of the clouds. We went back in and then the color burst forth and I hurried back outside to grab a few shots and this was the best one.

Afternoon Sky at the Pond Photo of the Day 78/365 This photo was taken a few years ago near our cabin and was part of my father-in-law's property. The time of years was nearly the same as now. In some way, I'm posting this in honor of the memories I have of my father-in-law and the gifts of life he gave us. He passed away last week and the family is grieving. He seemed to marvel at my photos so this one is for him.

Late Afternoon Sky through the Trees\ Photo of the Day 77/365 I took this photo this past weekend. I could not get out to take the sunset, but I went out on our deck and noted the waning sun and the puffy clouds. The sun had sunk beneath the treeline and its light was tring to shine from behind the clouds. The scene was stunning to me and I did my best to capture the majesty of the sky that afternoon.

Just to the Left of Sunrise Photo of the Day 76/365 I took this photo about a month ago when I could still catch the sunrise before I got to work. I remember wanting to catch the colors in the clouds off to the north of the rising sun. The gold colors of the sunrise are always beautiful, but the pinks and reds deserve attention, too. Add to that the gorgeous blues of this sunrise and the pallette is complete.

Setting Sun and a Lonley Tree Photo of the Day 75/365 I took this photo this past weekend on a walk with my youngest. From the clouds, I knew the sunset would not be one of the "spectacular" ones but I still enjoyeed the company and the walk and I tried to capture a few shots that caught my eye. This one tree was alone in the clearing and the sun, just behind it made for a good photo, for me.

Sunset Light Reflection on the Barn Photo of the Day 74/365 This photo was taken last fall but sat in my archives and after viewing it again, I could not pass up posting it. The full tree would give away that it was not taken very recently. Our trees are still bare but soon, they'll look like this again. The skies will be awesome (well, they are now, but not like this) and I'll be back out walking more - and the temperatures will moderate. That's the way of weather here. Enjoy!

Just before Sunrise at the Lake Photo of the Day 73/365 This photo was taken from my archives - it is a winter scene but as spring approaches and winter fades for another year, I wanted to post this. I really like the sky through the trees, the sky's reflection on the water, the ice - all of it. When the trees start to bud and then bloom forth - you can't see this view. Seasons change and the beauty in all seasons and times should be enjoyed.

At the Pond just before Dawn Photo of the Day 72/365 I took this photo earlier in the season. I had to stop and had to get this photo. As I recall, the sky didn't look all that impressive when I started to work, but becamse more and more beautiful as I went. I needed to take the shot - as I left, the sky went to gray again and the colors were gone. I should mention that it only takes me about 7 minutes to get to work, so this sky was there for a brief moment of time - always stop and see the beauty - it may not last.

Sunset through the Tree Limbs Photo of the Day 71/365 This photo was taken last weekend while out on a "sunset walk". I always try to catch the sunset from many different viewpoints. Many are similar but my hope is that the clouds,  or the angle of the sun, or the scenery will make the scene interesting. In this case, I think I managed most of them. The sun was just right through the trees, the sky, while not amazing, was different and the trees seemed to reach up - a nice shot.

Wild Sunset Sky over the Field Photo of the Day 70/365 This photo was taken from my archives - but could have been taken yesterday. The sunset was later in the day and I was occupied with training - but it was a similar night when this photo was taken. The location is about a mile from my home and in warmer weather, I enjoy walking to this spot.  The sky that night was wild looking althought it was a calm, beautiful evening.

Pond Reflection aafter Sunset Photo of the Day 69/365 I took this photo some time ago, I believe we were on a road trip. We had stopped at a restaruant and saw this pond in the windows while we were waiting to be seated. There was enough light to dimly see the foreground but the reflection got my attention. It just looked interesting to me. We didn't have time to explore further as our name was called - but I got one shot, anyway.

Lonely Sunset Cloud Photo of the Day 68/365 I took this photo this weekend and, as usual, it took a bit of editing to get the image to show what I saw. The variance of light is just too much for the camera - so editing brought it to life and made it worth posting. I really do like the soft edge of color in the cloud, the blue hills, and the field in the foreground. It feels peaceful, to me.

Spotty Sunrise Clouds Photo of the Day 67/365 This photo was taken one morning over the past couple of weeks. The sun gets higher until Daylight Savings Time comes in (tomorrow) and messes with my mentai schedule and my photography schedule. In any case, without the clouds partially hiding the sun, this would not have worked - but luckily for me, they were there and this photo came out great!

Sunset Behind a Pine Photo of the Day 66/365 I took this photo last weekend on an afternoon walk. The beutiful sky got washed out because the sun was not down yet, and the camera can't see what the eye sees. So when I got to shade the sun with the tree, the beauty of the sky became evident and the colors just popped. It ended up a very nice shot.

Sweeping Sunset Sky Photo of the Day 65/365 This photo was taken over the past weekend. The wide sky, the windswepts clouds, and late afternoon sun provided for a nice landscape shot. It looks cold (it was), it looks barren (no spring growth yet) and the water from recent rains can still be seen in the field. But despite the cold - the "nature" of the scene gives hope to the new growth and warmth of spring.

Sun Breaking over the Valley Phot of the Day 64/365 This photo was taken, believe it or not, about 10 years go. I managed to be at the right place at the right moment to capture the sun just breaking through the trees across the valley. The sky was golden, the trees were still bare, waiting for their spring growth, and the sky was heavy with mist. What a morning. I need some more morings like this.

Big Sky Sunset over the Field Photo of the Day 63/365 I took this photo this past weekend while out on a walk to catch a sunset. It was too cold to wait so I did what I could with what I had. I liked this shot as I was at the opposite corner of my neighbor's field and could get a "big sky" feel to the photo as the sun was sinking. The streaky clouds seemed to either draw you to the sun ro they were streaming fromethe sun - either way, I think it made a nice photo.

Afternoon Sky over the Field and Hills Photo of the Day 62/365 The wind was howling yesterday afternoon and I decided to go for a walk and see if I could catch a sunset. The temperature, though not frigid, was very cold with the wind, so there was only one trip outside. While I didn't catch the sunset (too early), I did catch a very nice scene with the far hills, the afternoon clouds, and the field in the foreground.  It looks much warmer than it was.

Soft Winter Sunset Photo of the Day 61/365 I shot this photo last evening when the sun was setting and the wind was howling. The day started out very nice with 40s for temperatures (farenheit) and it went down all day We had a great morning seeing an interactive Underground Railroad re-enactment but the temps dropped and the winds picked up. But the susnset was worth the cold and the cold walk.

Big Sky Sunrise Photo of the Day 60/365 I took this photo yesterday morning on the way to work. The sun had already risen so I had missed the pre-dawn colors. I'm sure that I won't get too many more predawn sunrise skies for some time as the season's change but my time to work doesn't. In any case, I saw this photo in my mind and used the widest lens I had to get this wide view - the pines almost look like cacti - sort of like a desert photo.
