Pastel Lines of Sunset over the Hills Photo of the Day 120/365 I took this photo earler in the week, on the way home from class.  I had noted earlier (during class) the potentially beautiful sky, but on the way home, it got better. When I was on a side street in our town, I could make out faint clouds over the hills in the distance. I stopped to grab a few shots (right in the middle of the street) and this was the best from that location.

Streaks of Fire in the Sky after Sunset Photo of the Day 119/365 On the way home last evening, I say the deep reds in the sky and had to get some shots. I pulled into my driveway and ran over to a neighboring farm and managed to grab a few shots before the reds faded to darkness. We have some local wildfires and I suspect that smoke is part of the reason for the reds, and I pray those fire fighters get them out - but I'll enjoy the skies while I can.

Sun Slipping Away for the Day Photo of the Day 118/365 I took this photo over the weekend. Whenever I get a good sunset, I really try to work all possible angles and views. The scene changes so rapidly that with 5 seconds, the scene can look drastically different.This shot was just as the sun sank behind the last cloud of the day. The sky almost burned with the heat of the sun and the bright edgets on the clouds seemed to be on fire.

Sunset and Field Grass Photo of the Day 117/365 This photo was taken last evening while out on a "sunset walk". I was hoping to see some clouds and was blessed on my return trip with these clouds just surrounding the setting sun. I took a load of images, but I like how the grass was lit by the fading sun and the way the clouds "crown" the sunset. Spring has spring but the wind made if feel cold on the walk, but well worth it.

 Afternoon View on the Farm Photo of the Day 116/365 This photo was taken last year and I never got around to posting it. I love the afternoon glow inthe saky and the light on the furrouws in the field. The photo has more than a few touchpoints in my memory banks. One is that the simple farm reminds me of some of my youth on a farm - simple with no TV, no computer, barely any radio and all the time in the world to explore the fields and woods.

Sunset Sky over the Field and Stream Photo of the Day 115/365 I took this photo over the past weekend. The sunset was really nice as I was out for a sunset walk, but when I turned my head, the clouds lit up by the sunset made this scene very pretty. The clouds and fields just barely lit and the pinks in the clouds - all came together. A nice end to the day.

Lone Tree at Sunrise Photo of the Day 114/365 I took this photo yesterday morning while walking from my car to my office building. I couldn't help but see the sun trying to peek out from behind this tree. The clouds had made for a nice sunrise (which I missed on the way in), but found this uphill view on our campus just as inviting to a photographer.

Sunset Sky from the Roadside Photo of the Day 113/365 My wife and I had a free night last evening and we ran some errands, did some shopping, and went out to dinner. After dinner, as we were going to the car, I noted the pinks and oranges in the eastern clouds. I said that there was a nice sunset but that we'd likely miss it. On the way home, we missed the sunset, but not the sky - this photo was taken from the moving car becuase we couldn't stop and even if we did, this only lasted for a few minutes and was gone. Get 'em while you can.

Spring View over a Misty Field Photo of the Day 112/365 This photo was taken on an early morning drive near my previous home. I had left for work and was trying to catch some good sunrise photos with the farm and fields. I found this view with the overhanging tree branches and the field grass in th foreground and tried to frame the colorful sky. Tje early morning mist over field added mood the the photo.

Another Golden Sunset Photo of the Day 111/365 I took this photo some weeks ago while out on a walk. When you only post one photo per day, sometimes, good phtotos get set aside, for what youthink are better ones. This was such a case. I posted other photos from that evening but this one languished in my archives until today. I hope you enjoy it.

Farms and Windmills on a Clear Day Photo of the Day 110/365 This photo was taken last fall on our trip to Western Pennsylvania. I was going through my past photos and this one just stuck out and I wanted to post it. It evokes a serene feeling, (to me, at least) and brings back memories of our trip. The areas we travelled are not as developed as here in central Pennsylvania and I enjoyed viewing rolling hills and farms.

Just Before the Sun Sets Photo of the Day 109/365 I took this photo last week whjile out on an errand. We decided to pull over at a relatively scenic overlook. I really liked how the clouds formed near the horizon. The shapes and edges offset the ominous cloud that formed overhead. That ominous cloud did produce rain shortly after taking this photo so I'm really glad we stopped.

Morning Sky over Campus Photo of the Day 108/365 I took this photo a few weeks ago after I pulled into our parking lot at the University where I work. I noted that I had missed, due to my timing, the beautiful sunrise clouds.  I decided to catch what I could and included the buildings in the foreground.  It did, for that moment, make the photo workable and nice.

Copse of Trees in the Setting Sunlight Photo of the Day 107/365 I took this photo a few days ago. We were out on a drive and saw the sun come in and out of the rain clouds. We happened up a road and my wife asked me if I wanted to go to a spot we knew with an overlook. I said yes and this was one of those shots. I like it becuase of the depth of the photo - there are many details,the more you look - and, of course, the sky doesn't hurt.

Sun Setting and a Tree in the Rain Photo of the Day 106/365 At the end of the day, last night, we had seen dark clouds and heard the wind and rain battering our home. However, just at sunset, my wife saw the sunlight streaming into our backyard and said I should take a look. I did so, and decided - you never know if you don't try, so off I went for a walk - this was the result. Uneditied - well, as my iPhone saw it - but it's very close to what I saw.

Later Afternoon Sky over the Farm Photo of the Day 105/365 I took this photo a couple of weeks ago while out on a sunset drive. Sometimes, in fact many time, the best photos are not the sunset, but facing the sunset. The sun had set behind us, but the colors lit up the sky with beautiful pinks and purples behind the farm and had enough light to give soft light the farm itself. It was a nice night.

Willow and Pond on a Blue Sky Day Photo of the Day 104/365 My wife decided that we should go for a drive yesterday. She had been out for an errand and when she returned she regaled me with how pretty it was. She was right (as always) and off we went for a couple of hours. This was just one of the scenes we came across. The clouds were small and almost "Toy Story" like but unique in their own way. It was a pretty afternoon jaunt.

Sun Breaking over the Rolling Hills Photo of the Day 103/365 I took this photo a couple of weeks agoe. The sky was clear and with clear skes come boring sunrises (I like the shimmer of colors on the clouds). So, to get a worthwhile show, you need something else to make a subject - I used the trees and hills in this case to help keep the eye in the photo. I think that they did just fine and I DO love the colors. It was a beautiful sunrise!

Like Wings in the Clouds Photo of the Day 102/365 I recall a comment on one of my photos that someone saw wings in the clouds on one of my social media accounts. I was going through my old photos and I noticed this one. I had taken it on one of my older phones and it had potential. I removed some bad color cast and fixed the brighness and voila - what I think looks like wings in the clouds.

Afternoon Sky at the Lake Photo of the Day 101/365 I have to give credit to my daughter for this photo. She took it while walking at Wildwood Lake in Harrisburg. I did some edits to the photo and she liked it so I decided I would post it. I think she is developing good eye for composition and subject. I think, well done!

Late Afternoon Sky wiht Spotty Clouds Photo of the Day 100/365 I took this photo earlier in the week. The sky was very clear and I thought I would not be able to get much in the way of a pretty sunset. I was wrong as happens often and this shot proves it. I had to do some editing,because in tough lighting, in order to to make the image what I saw. This image is what I saw, the bright sun, the spotty clouds, and the light still shining on the field.

Sunset Fire with Trees and Hills Photo of the Day 99/365 I took this photo sometime over the past couple of weeks. The sunsets, when they came, were hot and fast-changing. I remember racking my camera out to the longest zoom I could. I wanted to get the "ball of fire" of the sun. The upside, is that when I did that, the camera underexposed and the sky changed with brilliant oranges, golds, and purples. Who could resist that kind of a shot.

Afternoon Sky before the Rains Photo of the Day 98/365 I captured this image over the past weekend. My youngest and I were out for a walk in the later afternoon and I took this shot. Later in the evening, she was teasing me for being on my phone and I explained that sometime, I have to edit the photo to make it look the way my eye saw it. I showed her the original photo and this version and she agreed that it was now much closer to what was there for us.

Between the Trees in the Afternoon Photo of the Day 97/365 I took this photo recently and just coudn't get over the "lazy feel" of this photo. The trees, the fallen limbs, the afternoon sky - it all came together for a particular vibe. I liked that it felt more like a lazy summer day - but in the spring. It seems that as we get older, those carefree days get further and further apart. Perhaps we should chase after those days.

Misty Valley at Sunrise Photo of the Day 96/365 This photo was taken some time ago, but as we've had gray skies for the past few days, I thought I'd bring this one out of my archives and post it. I really like the sky and the mist in the valley. As I recall, it was a cool spring morning when I took this photo - the kind of morning you want to store away so you can remember what a spring day SHOULD feel like.

Dark Clouds at Sunset Photo of the Day 95/365 I took this photo last weekend while out on a walk. That evening, the sunset sky was changing very rapidly as the clouds moved quickly. We had walked past a small woodlot and some treees and this view was not there on the first pass, but on the return trip, this view opened up to us. What a nice view that was offered to us!

Tree Against a Sunset Sky Photo of the Day 94/365 This photo was taken a few days ago while out on a sunset walk. It was taken at the beginning of the walk.  I had thought that I might not get a good sunset, so I underexposed the shot to get the colors behind our neighbor's tree. There was one cloud, though, that made it seem that there was a giant shadow in the sky, but it was just a cloud. The next photo I took, the cloud had moved and the "shadow" was gone.

Clouds Streaming from the Dawn Photo of the Day 93/365 I took this photo yesterday morning on the way to my work. When I got in my car, based on what I saw, I didn't see much color, but held out hope for a sunrise. I should say that I have a 2 mile drive to work, so there isn't much time for guessing. Well, this view presented in that short time. A few second later,the sun rose, and the view changed completely. I love the soft waves of clouds and the reds just starting to color the clouds near the horizon. I wished the rest of the day could have been as nice.

Early Spring at the Farm Pond Photo of the Day 92/365 I took this photo from our car while out a couple of weeks ago. We were stopped and I took a coupld of shots while we waited. I hadn't posted it because it got lost on my phone's camera roll.  I thought the pond looked so very blue and the sunshine on the ground seemed very inviting. The farm house way back behind the trees also made me want to explore - but alas, we had to move on

Wild Sunset Sky Photo of the Day 91/365 I took this photo this past weekend. The sky got wilder and wilder as my youngest and I were out for a walk. The sunset skies change so fast. At first it was a bright but milky sky but as the sun neared the horizon, the golds, oranges, and reds came out in full force. It was a glorious ending to the day.
