Dusk Sky over the Inlet Photo of the Day 151/365 This photo was taken just after sunset as we reached the first leg of our destination for vacaton.  We had just eaten at the Maine Diner (a MUST eat at place in Maine) and my wife wanted to see the beach in Wells.  On the way to the beach (in the drizzling rain) - I looked back away and saw this view.  It was almost too good to be passed up so I didn't - and here is the view.

Sun Going Down after a Long Week Photo of the Day 150/365 This photo as actually taken about a year ago but it looked very much like the sky I saw tonight. Unfortunately, I could not get to a spot where I could capture the sunset tonight, so I chose a very similar sky to tonight's. It has been a very long week. We leave for vacation (when you read this) so I hope things lighten up and we can relax.

Afternoon Sky over the Pines Photo of the Day 149/365 I took this photo about six weeks ago and it was a case that the other photo I took that evening was better and I posted it and left this one to sit. Due to the rainy days lately, I went back through some recent photos and found this one. I like the afternon sidelight to the photo and the colors int he clouds. It was just before sunset so the colors were there and long shadows of the trees come together on this one.

Streaming Sunset Sky Photo of the Day 148/365 I took this photo near my old home (now soon to be my son's home) when we stopped over last weekend. The sky had opened up just as the horizon and I wanted to get a sense of the sweeping clouds.  I wanted to get a wide shot to try to capture the almost-hole that seemed to open up almost overhead. In all, it was a beautiful sky and a neat cloud formation.

Sunset Light over the Field Grass Photo of the Day 147/365 This photo was taken yesterday afternoon near our neighboar's farm. I saw that the time was about right to try to see what I could find for some sunset photos The sun was very bright and there were not interesting clouds near the sun, so I decided to try looking at the area surrounding the sunset and this view struck me as very pretty, so I grabbed a photo. I loke the little bit of blue sky along with the golden sunlight on the grass.

End of the Day at the Old House Photo of the Day 146/365 This photo was taken last evening.  We had gone over to our old house to see our son and daughter-in-law to have a quiet Memorial Day cookout, play some games, and have a time around a fire. We had finished games and dinner, and were getting a fire going when I noticed that the sky had cleared near the horizon. I tooka quick dash into the backyard and found this view - it was a great evening.

Sunset Sky over the Fields Photo of the Day 145/365 I went out to get some adult beverages at our local store. I noted that the sky was VERY pretty and nearing sunset but at that point where the sun was too bright. On the way home, I stopped and the sun was still not in the right place until I parked my car in the driveway.  Then I had to run to the neighbor's farm and try to capture what I saw. This photo is the result - try and try again - until you get it. The photo below was also taken yesterday, at almost the same spot - but MUCH earler in the afternoon.

Sunset in the Back Yards Photo of the Day 144/365 On the drive back from dinner last evening, we were leading some out-of-town family to our home and decided to take the "scenic route".  At dinner the clouds seemed ominous, but as we were leaving, I noted at how pretty the sky was.  On that scenic route, I tried to capture some photos of the sky. This was one of the photos I managed to get.  It was worth it.

Afternoon on the Open Road Photo of the Day 143/365 This photo was taken some time ago and pulled out of my archives for posting. It's been rainy and cloudy so I post things from the past that I think are nice, as opposed to the gray these past days. I remember that there was ao little traffic that afternoon, that I could get out of the car and stand in the middle of the road to get this shot - it doesn't happen often but if you can, on a pretty afternoon, you take advantage of it. 

Sunset Clouds over the River Photo of the Day 142/365 Sometimes, on rainy, cloudy days, I look back at the photos in my archives and see photos that weren't quite what I saw when I took the photo. I don't like to over-edit my photos and, in many cases, don't edit at all. I like to get it right first time - but - sometimes, the photo languishes without some editing love - this is is one such photo. The original was so bland - but had potential - too much dark/light for colors to come through.  With some editing magic, NOW it looks the way I remember the scene - the way I like it.

Sunset Sky and the Barn Photo of the Day 141/365 This photo was taken earlier in the year. As with some of my photos, some photos just seem to usurp others and they fall to the "ready to post" folder. This is one of those. We had been out for a drive and the sunset sky, while not magnificent, lent itself to reflecting in the clouds of the eastern skies. The orange/pink clouds and the barn just seemed to be made for each other.

Geese on the River Photo of the Day 140/365 This photo was taken this past weekend. We were traveling to a Celebration of Life service and were early. We stopped by the river on the way to waste some time, as we were early. Just as I was walking back to the car, I looked and saw the family (or small flock) of geese just swimming by, as a group. I grabbed my phone and took a photo - I only got one with the whole group and this was it.

Tree and Sunbeams Photo of the Day 139/365 This photo was taken from our car window last night on the way home from a wedding. The wedding has been between a couple who have been a blessing to our church and to many lives. I hope that the sunbeams were shining directly on them as their union brings hope. My wife actually took a back road so I could get this shot. I only got two and this was the best one.

Late Afternoonn Storm Over the Farm Photo of the Day 138/365 We were up to my father-in-laws town to celebrate his life yesterday and on the way back to a family gathering, we decided to visit the gravesite This scene unfolded behind the cemetary.  I had noted tha the sky was pretty but that storm clouds were coming. We got there just as the transition was starting. The farm, fields, and hills exude the country feel of the area and it is very genuine. This is "country".

Storms Rolling in over the Bay Photo of the Day 137/365 This photo was taken a couple of years ago on a long weekend trip to St. Michaels, Maryland. My wife, God love her, knows that photography is, for me, right up there with breathing, so on one of our jaunts, she decided to take a drive down a "dirt road". That road turned out to be someone's driveway which ended at the bay. "No one's home, get out and get some pictures" is what she said, so that's wah I did. 

Afternoon on a Dirt Road Photo of the Day 136/365 This photo was taken from my archives. The sunset would have been beautiful last evening except I was in my class teaching as our lead instructor had to take the night off. So, instead, I am posting a photo taken on a similar day when we had our cabin. This dirt road was walked many times with my family in all seasons, but his one is one of my favorites. The rains had passed and the fading sunset sky was just visible through the trees. It still brings back memories of how peaceful it was, there.

Pastel Colors at Sunset Photo of the Day 135/365 I took this photo over the last weekend or two. I remeber playing with the exposure and not letting the camera decide for me. I had to tinker for a few moments but I got an image I liked - and this image is the result, at least for the exposure. I had to edit the colors a little to get the image to what I saw but this is very close - a pretty pastel sunset.

Sun Sliding into the Clouds Photo of the Day 134/365 This photo was taken about two weeks ago while on a sunset walk in my neighborhood. I had my non-phone camear with me and zoomed in as far as I could, to get this shot. I liked the sharp definition of the layers of clouds and the sun, just about to disappear behind the clouds.  All these things along with the golden color and the grounding of the tree in the lower left make it all come together for me.

Wispy Sunset Clouds Photo of the Day 133/365 This photo was taken over the weekend while out for a walk. The sun was too bright for a direct shot so I decided to try to see if I could capture the clouds. The sun was still bright and shining onto the field in the foreground and you can see the sunlight at the right side of the frame. However, the wispy clouds made the shot exceptional. I had to do some editing to make the photo what I saw, but it was worth it.

Sun Setting Between the Trees Photo of the Day 132/365 I was watching last evening for the sun to set. The sun was bright and I didn't want to just go out to find the sky too bright to photograph, so I waited. I was able to get out to a good vantage point just as the sun was setting. I was afraid the clouds might make the sky too milky, but that, in the end, didn't happen. I got a wonderful setting sun amongst the bands of clouds. A nice end to Mother's Day and the weekend.

Sunset Clouds over the Field Grass Photo of the Day 131/365 This photo was taken some time ago and I'm just getting around to posting it. The composition just called out to me and I had to take a photograph of the scene. The bright cloud tops and the golden bottoms along with the sillhouette of the field grass just came together. 

Spring Rain across the Valley Photo of the Day 130/365 This photo was taken just up the road from my in-laws home (and our old cabin). I really like how the clouds seemed to creep over the mountains and lower their fingers down into the valley. The rains came with those clouds and it did puur. But this shot definitely gives the mood and impression of the spring rains in the valley.

Afternoon Storm Memories of Cape May Photo of the Day 129/365 This phoeo has been sitting at thr front of my archives for a few weeks now. I wanted to post it, but better photos of sunsets and such kept overriding my desire to post this. While this photo is at least a decade old, the power of the ocena, the wild sky from the just-passed storm, and the singular guardian lighthouse all pull together to make this one of my favorite photos.

At the Edge of Evening Photo of the Day 128/365 I took this photo a couple of nights ago. I was out driving and wanted to get some shots of the sunset sky. I was hoping to get some  other scene elements but this particular shot only needed a little balance. The smalle copse of trees in the foreground was all I had - but with that magnificent sky, that's all that was needed. 

Sunset with Field and Fence Photo of the Day 127/365 I was out for a business dinner last evening and when we parted ways, I saw the sunset behind the restaurant and decided to take a drive. I noted many back road locations and took a number of photos but this is one of my favorites. The lighting was just right to see the fenc, the field, and, mosit importantly, the beautiful sunset. It had stormed most of the day and this was a wonderful ending to the day.

Pines and Streaks of Sunset Photo of the Day 126/365 I took this photo a couple of weeks ago and when I went back through my camera roll, I'm not sure why I didn't post it before. The sky that night was extremely pretty and these pines gave depth to the photo. I know I liked it then so I'll post it now, enjoy!

Sunset Sky over the Hay Field Photo of the Day 125/365 I took this photo last evening. I was watching the sky as it had been mostly cloudy throughout the day. However, as the day wore on, there were some breaks in the clouds and I based on the clouds I saw, I was hopeful for a beautiful sunset. I wondered over to the neighboring farm and waited for a bit and the sky did not disappoint me. I did hear buzzing and didn't realize that there were bees flying about me - I think they thought me a mild threat....here's to hoping I proved them wrong.

Before the Spring Sunrise Photo of the Day 124/365 I took this photo last week on an early monring drive to work. I stopped a a local tree farm and was able to get this shot before I had to head on in to work. The sky wasn't as brilliant as I'd have liked but you take what is given when you're on the road. I also really liked the dirt road leading into the frame - it leads to a pond that I want to get photos of, but haven't had th time to ask - yet.

Beautiful Morning Sky Photo of the Day 123/365 I took this photo yesterday morning on the way to work. I had to go in early to work on a project. Despite my best efforts, my timing was off and I missed the actual sunrise - in this photo, the sun is in the second deck of clouds. However, it was not so far as there was not color in the sky. So, I did my best to capture the wonderful golds, reds, and yellows, while keeping the blue sky. It was a glorious start to a good day.

Tree with Sunset Afterglow Photo of the Day 122/365 I shot this photo earlier inthe week. Due tosome localized wildfires, the skies, at sunset, were just wild with red and orange colors. I had seen, but missed the opportunity, to photograph the sunsets this particualr evening - but I managed to get the afterglow of the sunset when I got home. I hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Sunset Light at the Farm Photo of the Day 121/365 This photo, taken earlier this week, shows that you don't need the golden sky to portray the light from the sunset. I loved how the light played off the grasses and the buildings. The colorful, but sparse clouds, add color and interest (at least for me). This image brings back memories of my time living on a farm in my youth.
